Hi to all , and Acts will will ALWAYS be mis-understood by those who want to believe that the great commission , and Pentecost , tongues , healings , and prophesy , and Baptism is for salvation or speaks of some kind of inward acts , that convinces them of some annointing .

But not all, believe all the above , but subscript to some it and butt-heads with what the Apostle Paul reveals that it is all by Grace PLUS nothing .

In Acts 6 , we see that CONTEXT , which I believe , that most do not seriously consider , and in chapter 6 , many in the early Assembly are being added to the assembly ( Acts 2:41 ) .

In Acts 6:7 , And the word of God increased and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly , and a great company of the PRIESTS were obedient to the faith .

#1 , who were these Priests ????

#2 , what was the faith that were obedient too ????

#3 , Was this Faith , Law or Grace ??? I see no Grace here !!!!

I see that from Acts 21:21 , that they were still keepng the Law and Zealous of the Law !!! And if they had Priests , they were giving Sacrifices !!!! And in Acts 18: 8 , we see that Crispus , was the Chief ruler of the synagogue , and still Jewish .

That , means that the context is Jewish and the Body of Christ is nowhere to be seen ????

When the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost, it was for the Jews AND all those afar off, and as many as the Lord shall call. Jews were obviously the first members of the body of Christ. They were in Jerusalem, after all. If you were in a small Mississippi town, the congregation would be southern. The church started small and then grew as more people heard the Gospel.

Acts 2:38-39 said:
and Peter said unto them, `Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, for to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.'

Hi glorydaz , Where is the Body of Christ mentioned in Acts 2 , and the verse 39 , and the promise is unto you , means the children of verse 38 , and that is what it means , means Jews !

Acts 2 describes the body of Christ...the phrase hadn't been coined yet.

And, no, the verse says to you and your children, AND to all those afar off, as many as the Lord shall call. That would be the gentiles. You have the Jews and their children AND those afar off. Who are those afar off if not the gentiles?

Here we see those who are afar off....
Eph. 2:11-14 said:
Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
