Was everlasting life an effortless gift that was squandered by the father of all nations?
It’s virtually a given that any god-like entity with the ability to create a world like ours as part of a vast and complex universe, must also possess the proficiency to create a perfect human; whether it’s God, as most of us sees him, or some other creator-intelligence whose technology is way off in our future ability to comprehend. Just one look at the fascinating biology of our cells, complemented by the extreme intricate design and function of our brains, tells a compelling story of the intelligence that must have pieced it all together. For how long? We’ll get to this answer later.
Evidenced by our own technological advances over time, an intelligent designer with the ability to have created us, would have also been able to create a perfect Adam—an Adam that was sufficiently sin-proof. The only problem with this is it would have been a robotic Adam, without free-will. It’s difficult to see how this kind of Adam would have been of any special usefulness to his maker when he was easily just another moon or star, with absolute loyalty.
The significance of free-will is amply demonstrated in the creation of us through Adam. We as self determined beings, with the intellectual capacity to choose based on the way we process information. In creating us, God had thus fashioned beings that are free, guaranteeing that if we then choose to trust and love him, then it would all be real.
Or, he could have formed us as beings immune to the fallibility of sin, preprogrammed to do only good, but then we would have been little more than biological machines.
It is important to note that with ‘free-will’ comes the need for God’s obscurity and uncertainty, and thus the answer to why he seems to be mysteriously out there. Why he has never been unquestionably seen, or proven otherwise.
As previously expressed, we believe that the core reason for our creation is the gift opportunity to live on forever—everlasting life. And that we are ultimately required to prove ourselves as being worthy of this unfathomable gift of eternal life. In order to do this, we must process the information that is available to us within the context of our social and wider universal existence.
With that said, if there was ever an absolute verifiable proof of God within our environmental existence, then free-will would become nullified; which is to say we would have become unduly biased to the presence of a creator and acting under the extreme influence of his certainty. Then we would be no different from a robot—God’s little robots.
Consequently, everlasting life is neither effortless nor free. It must be earned by free-willed beings through faith in a mildly obscured and uncertain Creator. Though on the face of it, it could seem to some that God is withholding himself for no good reason at all when deep down there is a good rationale for his actions.
The placebo effect is almost critical. And questioning God’s existence is quite relevant. Is our world and the universe we live in all natural? Or is there a design creator behind it all?
For us, God has given enough hints and proofs of his existence, to be faithfully examined and aid in our free choices.
Adam squandered nothing; he was doing exactly what God had intended, even though he and others of us may have been thinking otherwise. Don’t think so; ask the Pharaoh. Remember how God had hardened his heart so he would not let the Israelites go (Exodus 10:20, 27). This was done so God could then prove himself to the nation of Israel.
Within our very natural world and universe, there is enough evidence of a spiritual existence—supernatural experiences. Some call these phenomena; things we just can’t seem to explain. If you seek; you shall find. If you ask; you shall be answered.
Next time we will answer the outstanding questions on this topic.
