I've heard alot about age differences in dating, but I'm curious as to know what you all think. Does a major age difference between two people really matter? Why do you think so? Why did society come up with these accepted standards relating to the age gap between a man and a woman? And why in the world does it matter if the younger person is a teenager? I'll start off by giving what I think.
I don't think age should matter one bit. Whether a man and woman were born on the same day, a year apart, or ten years apart, shouldn't matter. If they truly love and respect one another, then why SHOULD it matter? Sure, there may be some maturity differences, but what does it matter when they love eachother?
Take a seven year age difference. 15 and 22. If they started dating, it would most likely be with the disapproval of parents and family members. But let's fast forward to when they've been together for, say, seven years. 22 and 29. That doesn't sound so bad, does it? What about 30 and 37? 34 and 41?
Just a thought. I know some people who are repulsed by the thought of a major age gap, like seven+ years.
