Age of Grace vs Old Testament Ways

Don't know if this is the right place for this but, I have been wondering a lot lately
about how things seemed to have changed after the death and resurrection of Christ.
In the Old Testament it seems like God did quick and immediate punishment for sins
done by His people, but now days that don't seem to be the case.

And a lot of miracles were done in the old Testament while now days we don't see
such things as are mentioned then. I am thinking that grace has taken the place of
the need for miracles since salvation is now more important and available to us modern
Christian thru faith.

Does anyone here know about the Age of Grace and how it has changed the way God
does things from before? Thanks

I certainly believe that things are profoundly different this side of the cross than before. At present, I am not ready to get into great detail about what changed at the cross. I will suggest the following, though:

1. Before the cross, there was a sense that Israel was a distinct people. After the cross, that distinction disappears - the "Israel" project comes to a close at the cross;

2. Before the cross, the Law of Moses was in force for the nation of Israel. After the cross, the Law of Moses is retired entirely;

3. As of the cross, Jesus is enthroned as the King of all creation;

4. The cross fulfilled the promised return of YHWH to His people;

5. The Holy Spirit is given to believers after the cross, but not before,

There was never a time when God didn't offer grace to those who love Him and keep His commandments.

Ge:6:8: But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Ge:39:4: And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

Ex:33:17: And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

Psalms:84:11: For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Hi, :wave

Some may think that before Calvary men were saved by keeping the law of God and the law of Moses; and that since Calvary, men are saved by grace. But if that were true, we would have a divided heaven. Some would be praising themselves for their righteousness and obedience which entitled them to heaven, and other would be singing the praises of the Lamb upon the throne. No, my friends, there will be no divided heaven. All in God’s kingdom will have but one reason for being there; that reason will be “Saved by Grace!†... everyone will be singing, the song of Moses and the Lamb. Revelation 15:3.

In Hebrews 2:9 we read that by the grace of God, Christ tasted death for every man. And indeed, how else could man be saved; for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and the wages of sin is death, and only as Christ has paid that death penalty for us can we find salvation.

The Apostle John distinctly states that Jesus is “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.†And Paul tells us in Romans 5:20 that “where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.†Therefore, as soon as sin appeared grace was there. The Bible clearly reveals that Christ’s life and sacrifice were guaranteed to the sinner four thousand years before Calvary, and the men and women who lived before Calvary were saved on the basis of that guarantee by faith in the blood of Sacrifices which resembled the blood of Jesus.

Praise the Lord. If it weren't for God's mercy and grace I would never repent or feel convicted of my sins at all. Maybe I would feel guilty but not convicted.

It seems as though God in the old testament micromanaged the lives of His prophets and
other people that were then important to God. That is to say, God spoke to some with an
audible voice and helped them thru their daily struggles etc. But now days it seems like
His Grace is sufficient and we modern Christians don't expect to hear God speaking to
us with an audible voice or to fix are broken car with a miracle.

Also now days we depend on doctors and medicine for healing, but back then a prayer
would do the job in the form of a miracle. If there is a miracle now, then it gets lost in the
busy and crowded world overran with media. So it looks like all we have is Grace to get
us thru to the end. God told Paul that His Grace was sufficient after Paul asked for healing
in Acts. I think that is pretty much the case now days for the rest of us too. Not that it's
bad, but that it's just the way things are now.

Do others here feel the same way about that?
