Anyone heard of Alpha?

They are informal courses run primarily for people who are not Christians but may have burning questions or issues to do with God and the Christian message.

But Christians can join too.

Been to one today and it was brilliant!

Here is short clip but click around to find our more:

Welcome | Alpha

If you know of them or have been on one what do you think about it?

They're excellent. It's still the best course on the christian essentials that I've ever seen.
I did it about 12 years ago. I'd get more involved (because lots of churchs run them) but my health hasn't been up to it.

It's basics right through to the finer details of basic protestant theology, but only if you want to go that far. Even catholic churchs run the main course.

I'd recommend it to anyone. It's a good place to ask questions and test the waters.

(you don't have to join the church you do the course in though they might be hopeful, it's there for everyone. It's all pretty casual so if you're a new christian or just browsing they'll probably be completly cool with that.) I had a friend who visited Holy Trinity in Brompton where the course is filmed and she said it was a really nice church. She thought it one of the two best she visited in england while she was there (so it must have been pretty solid.) I like the guy who does them a lot.

(I prefer the old course if you can get your hands on those videos because it's fresher, but the new is pretty much the same.)

I have been on the course and led it several times.

I would say its very good, with the reservation that it's a little too "Sunday-Schooly" for those non-believing adults who come to the course with sophisticated
questions and doubts.

But nothing is perfect - I am a pretty big fan of the Alpha program.
