HI!
Did you know there is a turkey in the book of Genesis?

In Genesis 14 &15 we see that Abraham won to win back his nephew from five evil kings and their forces. He won this war against unbelievable odds. :rolling The King of Sodom says thanks we want to give you all the booty. We might think, how nice to be rewarded after such a hard battle. However, Abraham said; Nope, I will not take even one of your shoelaces king, I don’t want a single thing from your evil kingdom. Then look--- right after he said that, who shows up but the King of Salem, The King of Peace--(that’s what Salem means). This is the King of Righteousness who comes to greet Abraham in front of the King of Sodom and his nephew Lot. Abraham realizes this is no mere man, this is no earthly king. He reveals his understanding in his worship and tithing to this Priest-King-Prophet, Melchesedek. BTW---long before the law of tithing, Abraham tithed. He was no turkey.

Then in chapter 15 the Lord comes to Abraham in a vision and says to him in effect, you did not take the money from that sinful despot, though you were free to choose to receive it. Therefore, I am your reward, also you fought against those wicked kings, and now they are mad at you, therefore, I am your shield. What is Abraham’s reply to the Lord’s blessing? I have no heir, I don’t have a kid, I want a son, I want a son! What a turkey! See, Abraham had forgotten to count, like we do. Abraham already had the promise of God who said; you cannot count the stars, it will be just as impossible for you to count the family line that will be extended from you. Then Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Abraham forgot to count, but God did not! God gave righteousness to Abraham for believing His word. See yet because Abraham was impatient he took Hagar and now we watch the problems between Ishmael and Israel fume in the Middle East. God did not say grow up, you fussy whiner, you turkey you. :shame NO, God said what you really need is a shield, because you made yourself many enemies in an act of love, rescuing your nephew. So now, God is going to protect you from them.

Sometimes we say to God; How come I am laid off, how come I can't get a better job, why do I have trouble with my kids? We walk in the Spirit, being a living breathing talking witness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the forces-- princes of darkness-- the forces of hell-- plot to ruin us, to destroy us. Really we have no clue, not an idea, about how the Lord is constantly shielding us. What a bunch of clucks! We need to be thankful that we have have been shielded from such evil events, such evil plans.

A young woman lost both her arms, but she still types 40 wpm and provides for her two children and her attitude is beautiful because she is so very thankful. We are so blessed we live in America, we have arms and eyes, and the kingdoms of hell have been held back from great harming each of us and our families. Demonic enemies are devising traps to rip us off and take us down--- but the Lord is our shield. How horrible our lives would be if He did not! How destroyed and maimed we would all be. Be thankful for His daily shield and buckler. :thumb
We will find IN Him, our reward, all the richness we crave, all the answers we seek, and all the fulfillment we desire. We are so blessed; He has protected us, keeping us under His wing and close to His heart. Forces are out to destroy and shred us to pieces, body soul and spirit. Be thankful. Don't be a turkey.

Be thankful also that you are not getting what you DON’T want. HUH? :crazy

Be thankful, those of us who are saved, those kept by the precious atoning blood of Christ, are not getting what we deserve. Our Father showed us something of what we have been shielded from. See, Jesus was ripped apart- there Jesus remained-- bleeding to death- with the darkest evil forces surrounding Him on all sides, and the wrath of Holy God being poured out on Him. Be thankful that Jesus took the heat for us. He paid the price that should have been ours to pay. He took our beating.

When I was only seven, three years after my parents divorced, I lived at my Dad’s brand new house for one year, because my mom could not afford us three girls until she had a better job. He was a very angry man, and he showed it by whipping our backs and faces with his fists whenever we displeased him. He was extremely terrifying to me. For my birthday I received plastic high-heeled shoes and a Chatty-Kathy doll. I was in heaven, playing in front of the shiny plate glass window that over-looked all the Rolling Hills Estates. I stumbled, and my fingers smeared the windows surface. Later, my Dad lined us kids up, and began to yell about the dirty little kid that left her prints on his window. We were lined up oldest to youngest and I trembled at the end of the line. He bellowed for someone to fess-up. Knowing it was only my fault and terrified of taking the force of his wrath on myself, I said nothing. He decided to give us all “the beltâ€Â, and we each took a share of it. I was grateful that day for my position as youngest, because his wrath was partly spent on my sisters before he began beating me.

I ponder, in remembrance of our Lord, how good it is to have my good Lord take all my beating. My sin, stupidity, rebellion, and iniquity, caused the ripping and striping and bleeding on my Jesus. I think of Him as more than my friend, Jesus Christ was our sin, He took my sin, your sin, on Himself. He absorbed my punishment, how I thank Him! :clap

Thank Him then, brothers and sisters for shielding you from what you don’t even know--- until you get to heaven. Thank Him for what He’s done for you. Think--- what if you had not come to salvation--- of the horrible consequences you would be paying now. We have been rescued from a hellish life. We are not in an asylum, we are not starving, most of us are not deformed, or our family in wreckage, because He took the blows of the enemy- on the cross- in our place. Nakedly, hanging for our evil deeds, the demons of hell screaming at him, people mocking Him; oh--- it should have been me and you there. :(

Father, for saving us from such a great damnation, for revealing to us things unknown, for giving us health, and sanity in our minds, thank You. Oh our Shield, thank You for all Your wonderful great protection. Such goodness beyond our hearts knowing, because of You we are kept today--- from the enemy who wants to devour us. You are so much more than a friend to us. You are the mother hen letting us nestle under Your wings, You are our High Tower, our shield and buckler. :nod We would have been caught up in such terrible things. You kept us from the cross, by dying there for us. Lord where we have been pouting and complaining, or feeling sorry for selves, thank You that You still receive us as friends, that You saw Abraham as your friend when he complained; thank You Lord for your blood washing away all our doubts and complaining fears… Set us free now from whining and ingratitude, from all hardness toward others which can flow out of wrong thinking and hard hearts. From being turkeys.

We ought to think what we have been protected, eternally and today! So don’t be a big turkey after Thanksgiving. Complaining and gripping about what is not just the way we want it, unthinking fearful words--- absent of praise. See without His cross, oh the blessings we would never have! We are protected from hell itself--- and the hellish attacks--- that He shields us from--- day by day by day. :D

Fantastic bonnie! Thanks for sharing!

You know, when I start to complain about something, I'm learning to step back and actually be thankful that I'm in a position to have those types of issues. For example, when the car breaks down, how thankful am I that I have a car! or when I complain about having to split 8 cords of wood, how blessed am I to have that much wood to keep us warm in the winter when so many families don't even have heat. I don't know, there are so many things we take for granted, it's almost as if sometimes we feel that we are owed a particular lifestyle. I'm learning that life is a gift, and everything around us is a gift. It's easy to complain about the things around us, but if we can just appreciate the things and people around us, it's funny how life just seems a bit more complete.

Thank you for sharing, sheshisown. I usually become melancholy during the holidays because of how disfunctional my childhood family was and is. I went through neglect and abandonment, but not beatings. I thank God he has never forsaken me. I do not think I would be the person I am today, one who trusts and loves God, if my home was not what it was. "And we know that all things work together for good.....
Thank you for the well written and inspirational message.

Thank you Bonnie. I am reminded of this passage:

Phil 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Phil 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Phil 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Phil 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

:praying

Great passage Vic :yes

And just think, when Paul wrote that wonderful letter to the Philippians, he was bound in chains in Prison... and if you didn't have somebody to bring you food, you went without.
