am in sadness

I am extremely sad. My mother is dying of lung cancer, I have a medical condition that has been with me for a month, so far, and the doctors are distant, my children have moved away with their husbands and family.
I can't work right now because of my health, and I'm very sad.
Every day.
What can i do to help ease the pains?
Have any of you been in such dire straits? To the point of thinking you've been tossed out?

I pray that God in His mercy will send someone your way today. I can also assure you He hasn't abandoned you!
I lost my parents early in my life; My dad died right after I turned 18, my mom died 11 years ago when I was 25.
I went through some dark years after I lost my father, it affected a lot of decisions that I made for a long time.
God worked things out to my good, He is such a faithful God. Please draw really close to Him right now and allow Him to take your pain away. It's amazing the doors that he can open ..and sometimes just as amazing the ones he closes.
I will be praying that He will lead you to a place where the people love Him, and who will give you the emotional support that you need.
I'll personally be praying for you and your mother also.

Surely I will add you to my prayer list and cover you daily as the Lords reminds me to. As soon as I read your post James 5:13-15 came to mind.
13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

In every circumstance of life, we should go to the Lord in prayer. When in trouble, we should approach Him with earnest entreaties. In times of rejoicing, we should lift our hearts to Him in praise. He wants to be brought into all the changing moods of our lives. Look closely at the part of the verse in bold. Its a command that takes some faith on your part, because you will need to approach the elders or brothers and sisters in Christ who will lay hands and anoint you with oil. First you must be healed from the inside, then God can beging to work on the physical. It needs to start with you before you can help your mother. Let your faith shine through and call the elders or brothers and sisters lay hands and pray for her as well.

Father in heaven. I come before you with a heart of thanks giving and at the same time Lord, I feel heavy hearted. What a sad post to read Lord. However, you are a great and awe-some, merciful, all mighty, long suffering GOD who loves us and Lord I along with my brothers and sisters bring Biblereader before your thrown and ask that you will settle your peace upon her and her mother. I pray Jesus that you will place a hedge of protection around her and her mother and that you will give them a clear mind and strength. I pray God that you will protect them from the evil one and that you give them rest. We give you Lord the honor and the Glory in Jesus name. Amen

Blessings biblereader..

Hi Biblereader,

When I am in difficult situation, I keep myself busy reading the Bible. That's the only thing I can think of when I am physically unable.

My family and I pray for you.

We all at one time or another go through difficult times. And, there is that bumper sticker "no one gets out alive."

The way to ease the pain is to get your mind off of yourself. How that is done depends on our circumstances. For me, I might just fire up an immersive PC game, ask someone at church to a resturant after church or help with one of the church activities or otherwise find a way to keep myself among others, work in the garden or on a home-improvement project, find someone who has needs that you can help with, etc.

As bad as things are for you, there are lots and lots and lots of people in worse situations.

I am sorry for your pain. You have us to chat with, so you don't have to be as lonely. Are there any hobbies that you could work on like woodcarving, cross stitching, keeping a journal, etc?

One thing I have learned is that happiness and sadness come in cycles. There will be more happiness if you can just bear out the time you are sad.

Good reply by Poke. One can think in those lines to bury our sadness sometimes.

I would like to suggest reading the following pages from the book titled "Streams in the Desert" by Mrs. Charles E. Cowman which were comforting to me during the times of my sadness -

1) Run With Patience - http://www.backtothebible.org/devotions ... treams/303

2) School of Suffering - http://www.backtothebible.org/devotions ... treams/200

3) Thankful for the Thorns - http://www.backtothebible.org/devotions ... streams/98

4) Sorrow, God's Plowshare - http://www.backtothebible.org/devotions ... streams/19

May the Lord help, strengthen and encourage you.

Biblereader,
I know the feeling of being tossed out... it isn't a pleasant feeling. Do you belong to a church family and if so, could you speak with your deacons or elders? Perhaps they could gather up some of the congregation to bring you dinner, or to do some basic houswork for you. Besides, I'm sure you could enjoy the company.

Anyway, I'll talk to you and it looks like there are lots of other people here that are willing to talk to you too.

What are you hobbies or other things that you like to do?

Take care,
Jeff

Biblereader,

I am so sorry for your pain. I am praying for you. You have not been tossed out by God, and the best answer for your pain is right there in your name...biblereader. Read His love letters to you, and see that not only have you not been tossed out, but that you are the apple of His eye. Pray, read, and meditate on Him.

Be creative, and find ways to serve Him right where you are. You can write encouraging letters to you children, and friends, and other family members, or make them cards. I had a neighbor once who made caps for people with cancer, and sewn toys for children's hospitals. I suppose there are many things you could do when you are ready.

The season you are in is one that God is aware of, and He can provide you with the strength, and the comfort, to endure it. He doesn't always take our pain away, but He does always use it to our good, if we are His. The Lord bless you, and keep talking with us if that is all you can do for now, and allow us the blessing of praying for you, and encouraging you.

It isn't easy to hurt. I wonder if I'm saved, or not. I know there are worse situations than mine, I KNOW that, but, I'm not doing a good job of being a good, faithful servant to Jesus.
I read this this morning:
17: Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18: There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19: We love him, because he first loved us.
20: If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21: And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
I see from the Word of God that I'm not perfect in love, so, I won't have boldness in the day of judgment, unless I get better in being Christian. I have really sinned as far as verse 18 goes. I'm no good, just a lot of empty words. I haven't been serving Him like I thought I was. I'm a sinner. Over and over.

Hi Biblereader,

Stay in close fellowship with the best Christians you know, for they will help lift you up. Uplifting scripture, where it tells of how God is always there for us, is worth seeking and meditating over while reading. Psalms 91 always come to mind.

Psalms 91
1 ¶ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide in the shade of the Almighty.
2 I will say to Jehovah: My Refuge and my Fortress, my God; I will trust in Him.
3 For He delivers you from the fowler's snare, from destruction's plague.
4 With His feathers He will cover you, and under His wings you shall seek refuge; His truth is a shield and buckler.
5 You shall not fear the terror of night, nor of the arrow that flies by day;
6 of the plague that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction laying waste at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall by your side, and a myriad at your right hand; it shall not come near you.
8 Only with your eyes you shall look, and see the retribution of the wicked.
9 ¶ Because You, O Jehovah, are My refuge; You make the Most High Your habitation,
10 no evil shall happen to You, nor shall any plague come near Your tent.
11 For He shall give His angels charge over You, to keep You in all Your ways.
12 They shall bear You up in their hands, that You not dash Your foot on a stone.
13 You shall tread on the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent You shall trample under foot.
14 Because He has set His love on Me, therefore I will deliver Him; I will set Him on high because He has known My name.
15 He shall call on Me and I will answer Him; I will be with Him in distress; I will rescue Him and honor Him.
16 I will satisfy him with length of days, and will make Him see My salvation. (litv)

Thank you, Vic. These verses show me how weak and inadequate I am, as a Christian.

It seems like I'm doing so much wrong. I am so sorry if I've said ANYTHING in this forum that was wrong, and unGodly. I am so sorry, if my words have hurt anyone, or caused anyone pain, anger, hate, fear, worry, disgust. I apologize for any idle words, ANY unprofitable words I've ever said, here, or anywhere.
For ME, it's hard to live in the world, but not to be OF the world. FOR ME.
Why is it so difficult for me to be Christlike? To keep a guard over MY mouth all the time, to set no unclean thing before MY eyes, to never use my hands to sin,(like typing things I should not type) to never walk anywhere that is sinful, (Matthew 18), but, to still be in the world, day after day, to be with people who don't care about Jesus, or His Word? To not let any of that, dirty up my garments, given to me by God?
IF I'm saved? What business do I have of taking sinning in my heart, lightly? That's evil, for me to do that.
Am I ready to be taken to Heaven, am I clean enough to live forever with Jesus? No, I'm not.
Am I following Jesus?

Praise God, that he is faithful even when we are not.
I taught a biblestudy as a last minute fill in for a group of people that were / are going through much of the same as you are. I did not know it at the time, as my lesson started on the book of James and at the last minute changed it to

2 tim 2: 11-13
11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. 12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. 13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

Biblereader. I can speak for myself when I say I have been to the point of questioning if I am saved or not. I believe many of us have been thier. But you know what. We serve and worship an awsome God. One promises to remain faithful, even when we are not.. So regardless of how you feel, the Lord Jesus Christ is there with you, interceeding for you, before All Mighty God.. Do not let the evil one tell you otherwise as it is simply not true.

Blessings to you

Questions I asked myself, and I am wondering what is TRUE Christianity?

5.This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6: If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8: If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10: If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Compare that with 1st John, Ch. 3

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7: Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8: He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9: Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10: In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11: For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

A person who has been born again, or regenerated, does not habitually commit sin. He no longer sins with his heart and will and whole inclination. There was probably a time when he did not think about whether his actions were sinful or not, and he did not always feel grieved after doing evil. There was no quarrel between him and sin; they were friends. But the true Christian hates sin, flees from it, fights against it, considers it his greatest plague, resents the burden of its presence, mourns when he falls under its influence, and longs to be completely delivered from it. Sin no longer pleases him, nor is it even a matter of indifference to him; it has become a horrible thing which he hates. However, he cannot eliminate its presence within him.

Do any of you do the following, and think ahead of time, I'll ask God to forgive me after I do this? (You just do it, and that's an identifiable pattern in your life.) To do things wrong,
knowing they're wrong, like, watching sinful television or movies, drinking liquor, lying, stealing time from your employer, continuing to repeat nasty jokes, if you're a woman, do you go swimming in a bikini, or wear short skirts, or deliberately dress in any way that WILL cause another man to sin, when he looks at you? If you're a man, do you
deliberately lie to a woman? If you're a man, and call yourself a Christian, are you having ANY sexual relations with anyone, even LOOKING at dirty magazines, do you habitually commit fornication? This is not the mark of a born again Christian.
Are any of these sins habitually present in your life?
worry
judging others
anxiety
haughtiness
selfishness
whoredoms
pride
lust
idolatry
adultery
greed
gluttony
drunkenness
filthy words coming out of your mouth
deciding a person is lower than you, because of their outward appearance
hate
revenge
anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth
planning vengence
foolishness
not witnessing
being ashamed to speak up about Jesus
stealing
faithless
philosophy and vain deceit
husbands not loving their wives as their own bodies
wives not respecting their husbands
husbands letting the wife be the spiritual head of the family
wives continuously undermining the husband as spiritual head of the family
witchcraft of any kind
homosexuality
lesbianism
abortion
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15: For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16: I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
17: And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18: For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20: He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

These are only a few of the sins that should NOT be habitually seen or heard in a Christian's life. IF you habitually sin, then, you should examine yourself, to see
if you are really born again.
This is why I think I was not really born again. To be a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God. Am I friends with the world? Do I try, more often than not, on a regular basis, to look and sound just like the lost people around me? Am I like Lot's wife, looking back on the wealth and pleasures of the city the angels are dragging me out of? God forbid, but, I need to examine my Christianity closely.

This is what I'm wondering about, with myself. DID I TRULY DIE WITH HIM?
Do I crucify my flesh daily? No.
Do I do as Paul did:
24: Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25: And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26: I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

What does it mean to be truly saved? What does a real born again Christian act like, talk like, eat, drink, dress, pray, behave like on a daily basis?
Many are called, but few are chosen.
What is the life of a Christian?

Thank you Quath.

What is the life of a Christian?
Biblereader,
If you have recognized that you are a sinner in need of a Savior, and have believed that Jesus died for your sins, and was resurrected from the dead, then you have believed unto your salvation. Have you confessed this belief before men?

Paul writes about the war that exists within believers where the sinful flesh combats the born again spirit of man in Romans 7 and 8.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 7:10-17

Now listen to what Paul says about the battle that each of us faces as believers. Notice that Paul says that he does that which he knows he shouldn't do, and he doesn't do that which he says that he knows he should do. He asks who is going to save him from the body of death.

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Romans 7:14-25

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:31-39
