Yes I said it. And I am an American. Its sad to admit, but thats the truth. Its so obvious to me. How far the culture has devolved in 20-30 years.

This is a nation of darkness now. Constant violence and hate. People with no respect or morals. The quest of life is merely pleasure seeking. The bible said in the last days knowledge would increase. And it has.

Mens hearts have grown black and do evil constantly.

2 Timothy 3-6
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy
Without natural affection, (apathetic zombie nation?) trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good (why do they paint all the superheros jet black now?)
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures (entertainment culture? Like ancient Rome?) more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, (this must be the mean who secure trophy wives, that only "love" them for their money)

The answers are all there in the bible. But people refuse to read it. If they ever did they would realize that most of the non fiction books they ever read is pretty worthless.
 
Yes, I agree. And pretty much of what's out there is idiotic to me, particularly any entertainment. I hardly watch TV, and if I do, it's the news. I could almost be happy with an Internet connection and phone, no cable but the wife likes some of those detective shows, or things like dancing with the stars and watches a lot of TV in the evening, so that's why we have that. But again, I think it's all so silly.

I can see much of the worldliness and religious customs made their way into Christianity, and if pointed out, at the very least such a person would seem like being a kill-joy, and at worst, if it doesn't agree with mainline Christendom, then that person's in a "cult". Problem is, I wish that mainline Christendom would have the biblical knowledge and devotion that some of these "cults" have, instead of trying to entice people into so-called salvation with some form of worldly pleasure and activity while being devoid of biblical knowledge. That's why these movements arose oftentimes as someone sees the nonsense that goes on, and has the guts to call them out on it.
 
The truth is the entire world is under Satan's power and control.

I used to watch TV a lot more than I do now. One of my favorite shows was CSI: Special Victims Unit, until I realized that one evening every week, I was inviting murderers, rapists and child molesters into my home and my mind. I don't watch that show any more. That thought made me take a look at the other shows I was watching. While most of them weren't that bad, many of them were definitely in what you might call a "gray area". Many of them quite dark gray. Now I only watch the news and occasionally a movie that I know is okay to watch. For example, I watched Out of Africa last night. Mostly I watch TV shows I buy on DVD (most of which are 40 - 50 years old) and movies I also buy on DVD (most of which are comedies or family movies).

Not sure about things in the USA, but I would guess life in the western world was a lot more violent one hundret years ago than it is now. Our entertainment contains more violence, but then it's really up to every individual to opt out of watching TV or movies.

I think a lot of our recent ancestors said the same thing in their times as well. I know my grandparents and parents did. A lot of the kind of things going on today went on a long time ago too, it's just that without things like TV and internet people kept their secrets better. When in all of history has dirty laundry ever been aired so quickly and freely as on the pages of Facebook?

True Obadiah and this is where the subtlety of satan comes in imo. In the not so distant past the "dirty laundry" was seen as just that "dirty". Over a long period of time we've slowly but surely seen the things once considered "dirty" presented as not so bad. I remember here when swearing and any nudity was taboo on TV and then TV shows like Number 96 and The Box came to air. They were the first of their kind here and hugely popular because they were very risque. Condition people to accept sin isn't so bad and then why do we need to repent.

Of course it is!!! The Bible says that any nation that foresakes God shall be turned into hell,....and "a hell hole" is what America has become as the result of taking God and prayer from the public schools in 1963.

It's definitely not just America, it is the whole world, a global desensitization and decline into violence and depravity. There is only one end to it and that will be in His perfect timing. Meanwhile we MUST be upright in withstanding the constant onslaught from satan's workers using the power of God within us. We are His soldiers and the fight isn't at our front door, it's past that and in the hallways.
