American Beauty...i know this flick is a few years old, but i wanted to see what y'all thought about it... go nuts

The only thing I liked about that movie was the artistic way they did the filming, the visual images were very emotional and colorful. If you know what I mean. Other than that, I thought it was a horrible movie.

yeah...that's what i thought at first...but after watching it a few times i really liked the story and human emotion. everyone's entitled to their opinions, but horrible movies don't win a bunch of academy awards...

I understand that, but my judgments on movies isn't based on what the world thinks either. Of course it won awards, it was a beautifully mastered story of sin, temptaion and broken families. Why do we need to glorify it?

ah yes...but he didn't give into the evil. that was the point. he learned in the end what was important and what was pointless temptation. he was fed up with his life and how things were going...developed an unhealthy obsession w/ the girl, and at the moment of truth he stopped himself because he realized what he was doing and the innocence he was about to destroy and the evil temptation he was about to partake. he learned the most important thing just before he died... love. and joy. and peace within himself. then he got shot by a man who was evil and bitter. wonderful movie. i give it 4 1/2 stars.
