The idolatry of the married is a real issue. One I am sure God understands.
As for a girlfriend, the clue is in the name. Be their friend first and see what develops.

It doesn't really work like that. You can choose to be married to a girl and you may love her very much, but you can't worship the girl. And full time girls will take up a lot of a mans time and interefere with the mans relationship to God, so it is the rare lady who would represent God to you in her marriage. Don't be unequally yoked with a woman.
