...OK. She's my older, wiser Pentecostal friend/spiritual mentor. Here's the thing...its rough, being older and widowed in today's society (maybe in any society?) . She has her (thankfully, affluent) brother behind her, but..like a lot of older people in today's world...she's vulnerable. No husband, kids doing their own thing, so on and so forth.

My personal dream for Verna would be for her to sell her (rather nice) house and move into a condo. Or maybe one of those apartment communities for older people with lots of activities. See, her washing machine gave out and she had to buy a new one, and the guys who came in to install it messed a lot of stuff up. And she had to call a plumber. And...

...owning a house is rough on anyone, but it seems that, after a certain age, you're kind of a non-entity in modern society, especially if you're female. So, please pray. Thanks. :-)

Dear Father, please help this dear saint to cope with the necessities of life confronting her as she ages. Give her the strength to meet each day in Your power, and to be in peace in the process. Thank You Father and I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Verna remains in my prayers, Christ_empowered .

Several years ago, my older daughter & her hubby bought a new washing machine. The installers apparently didn't know how to install it properly. Three return visits to correct the problem, and three freshly washed floors, the last installer knew indeed how to properly install a washer. The appliance store, upon hearing that the washer had been improperly installed, provided an extended warranty for an additional three years. (This meant that the washer was under warranty for 8 years, as opposed to 5.)

So it's possible that the problems Verna encountered with her new washing machine was due to unskilled installers. Then again, maybe not. Single, older women are rather invisible to some sections of society.
