She's my older, wiser, Pentecostal friend (and spiritual mentor). She just had surgery. She told me the doc at the pre-op appointment said 40minutes, which...I didn't think was too terrible. So, I called her today to see what was going on, and she told me: the surgery had lasted 8 H-o-u-r-s.

She's doing well, which amazes me. She's had bad reactions to anaesthesia before, which is worrisome for me, but she did well this time, no major problems except that apparently being sedated that long always causes some minor complications (of course its "minor" when its someone else, right?).

Please pray for her. She will probably be discharged tomorrow and sent home and her family is supposed to help her out as she recovers. Her daughter is busy with her own daughter, who has a high risk pregnancy. Soooo...my big concern is that she may not get the support she needs, but I don't want to sound critical of a family I've never met.

Anyway, please pray. I was thinking that if necessary her insurance would cover home health or something like that. Hopefully it won't come to that.

Thanks. :-)

Dear Verna remains in my prayers, my friend. She is such a beautiful testimony of our Lord's love and grace and mercy!

Encourage her to drink orange juice & eat a couple of bananas to get her system fully rolling. I learned a long time ago to have these items on hand for after surgeries.

Thanks, everyone.

I just got off the phone with Verna. She called to let me know everything is a-ok. I'd called her earlier, but she was napping or something. Anyway, even though it was an 8 hour surgery, the downtime isn't too terrible. She has to use her whirl pool at home 2-3 times a day with some special soap to help heal an incision. She has to take it easy for a while, can't drive for a week...not fun, but not too terrible. She hasn't required heavy pain meds...she told me that a nurse made her take a Percocet before she left the hospital for the drive home.

Thanks again for your prayers.

Wonderful news, Christ_empowered! Really glad to learn she doesn't require heavy pain meds. As for not driving for a week, that is typical with a lot of surgeries.

Our Lord loves her dearly ... this is sooooo obvious!
