Monday Morning's Wildlife Rescue: Monday morning about 4:35-4:40am as I was about to leave work I noticed an employee standing in the middle of the parking lot struggling with an animal on the ground.
He was (unsuccessfully) trying to remove an old peanut butter container? which was stuck on a Raccoon's head. Each time he tried grabbing it the Raccoon would see his hand, flinch and move away slightly.
After about a dozen times I decided to intervene since I was wearing a leather jacket and thick Swedish Military Surplus leather gauntlet gloves offering protection against scratches and or bites. The employee was trying to use his bare hands.
I tried grabbing the container stuck on the Raccoon's head and with me too each time the Raccoon would see my hand coming, flinch and move slightly away.
After about 6 times I was able to get a good grip on the container, I pulled, the Raccoon pulled, and off popped his collar of death. With it on it most certainly would have died due to no water, food, or even air.
The Raccoon immediately ambled away without further ado and the employee thanked me.
A few video cameras there should have recorded it.
I have seen videos like this on YouTube of buckets stuck on Deer's heads, Goats, etc. This was the first time I have ever had to deal with it lol.
