Anonymous Donors Give $75M to Christian College
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Westmont College of Montecito will receive $75 million from anonymous donors; one of the largest donations ever made to a U.S. liberal arts college.
Interim President David Winter says personal friends of his made the donation. He says the money probably will be used when the Christian liberal arts college begins a massive upgrade that includes building a new chapel, residence hall and other structures.
That renovation plan is still under review. Neighbors of the 1,200-student college have opposed the plan because they think it will bring more traffic congestion.
