;) I am all psyched up for this years spring fishing season my friends.
Does anyone here love to fish as much as I do?
Last Oct I went on a fishing trip my my uncle and brother in law and had a fantastic time!
My wife and I live in a smalish town north of Toronto Ontario Canada called Keswick with our four kids...well they're not actually kids anymore. I had a daughter before I met my wife. My daughter is 26.
My wife and I have three sons - 24 - 23 - and 18.
We also have a foster daughter who is 16.
We really do consider her our own because she's been with us since she was about four and we're the only parenst she ahs. Her mom and dad are both passed away.
Anyway I went on this trip and it was about an hour North of Sudbury Ontario, and if there are any Ontarians here, they'll know this is a good long trip!
We rented a small cabin and fished several lakes in the immediate area.
I caught the most fish and my brother in law caught the biggest fish.
We ties into a lot of Pike, but the pickerral/Walleye were fantastic and extreemly tasty!
We also caught some bass and the biggest fish was a hybread Splake, which is a lake trout and Speckled trout combo.
That fish was if I recal almost 8 pounds?
The trip was fantastic but a lot of work because we weren't happy to just back up the trailer into one of over thousands of lakes up there, oh no that would not do. We had to go scouting on foot for miles and then try and find a way of getting this heavy 16 foot aluminum boat along with a heavy Mercury outboard and all accessories and tackle through long stretches of thick bear infested brush!
I snapped a few (billion) shots and I thought you may enjoy...
This is the brother out law!
he's a great guy and one heck of a fisherman...
This is the kitchen, and as you can see we had a few pops hanging about...
This is unkie Cliff in front of the cabin...
You get an idea of just how small these cabins are. You'll see one of the two bedrooms in this shot.
The one bedroom had two single beds in it. My bedroom had one double bed in it.
This is Chris with his prize winning Splake...
Unkie Cliff and Chris are pullin in the minnow trap as we begun a day of fishing...
This is one of the tiny trails we hiked down. We had to be sure to find the longest, narrowest trail possible to haul the boat down...
This is the prize...a sweet little lake chock full of trout and very difficult to get to in a boat...
Just a few numbskulls getting ready to lift and carry a large aluminum boat down an almost inaccessable trial officer...
I decided to be artistic with this next shot...it speaks for itself...
oops! How did tis picture get in there?
It's not even from the same trip. I caught this extreemly manly Rainbow Trout in Oshawa Creek!
Here in Ontario, if you live anywhere near Toronto and you love the Rainbow trout and Salmon fishing you can fish legally all year long from the mouth of specific rivers up to the C.N.R. tracks.
provided you have a valid fishiing license.
The rivers along Lake Ontario are usually jamm packed tight, and goofballs of every ilk stand shoulder to shouldder and as soon as someone gets a bite every weasel within eye shot will inevitable toss their lines over the unfortunate guy who hooked a fish, and there will be a birds nest of a tangle for certain.
I have simply cut their lines away, but I find it much easier to simply stay away from the overfished rivers. Oshawa Creek has a tar paved nature walkway running in a weaving direction roughly paralell with the river, and I suspect people don't fish there because they foolishly think fish will be spooky there and won't bite because of the joggers and bike riders...I really don't know for certain why it's usually fisherman free, but it is and I like it!!
This is the result of fishing in a goofball free zone folks!!
