Patricia Kopatchinskaja and the Orchestre des Champs Elysees playing Beethoven (naive label V5174). It is played on period instruments, recorded extremely well and played beautifully. There is a very good sense of space and decaying acoustic giving a real sense of location. Close you eyes and you are there - sort of.
There are a couple of places where the solo violin sounds as if it is receding backwards and then forwards again - either because the engineer is altering the recording level or perhaps she turned away from the microphone. Apart from that - glorious
