Hi-de-hi, campers!! :
Who's been where then? 8-)
& who's looking forward to going?? :P
Where??
What???
Why????
Come on..
Own up..
U R among friends on this fine holiday!!
Eh?
Not unless I start?? :o
OK then... :-D
I checked out a 'UK-wide rally' of the international 'Revival Fellowship' on Sat, 2pm - press hype was SOOOOOOOOOO excited about Liverpool being chosen to host the first one of its kind in captivity, y'see ... ;-)
It turned out to be a 180-seat venue, with a team outreach scheduled in between the 2 sessions
& there were still spare seats in the 6.30
Even tho there was a delegation from Holland, as well as the Brits & Irish!
May be worth a google on their name for any budding sociologists out there
Or see the article at http://www.ICLiverpool.com
Or at http://www.merseyworld.com & click media, then Liverpool Echo or Bootle Times or Crosby Herald
Any in earshot @ the back of the Marriot Hotel, Queen Square, Liverpool, enjoying their Tapas al fresco, will know that the music was kinda George Formby/Judy Garland/Gracie Fields...
(That's 1940s style for all you young 'uns)... :
Really..
I recognised all the songs from when I first went to Sunday School...
back in the 1950s!
(Apart from their very own 'R-E-V-I-V-A-L...'
WHICH WAS ALSO 1940s STYLE - WHAT ELSE IS THERE, EH?) :-D
I half expected I've Got That Unction In My Function & It's Down In the Depth Of My Heart's "Where?" to be answered with...
"Sing As We Go!"
(Theme song of a Gracie Fields low-budget morale-booster for the troops at the Western Front)
Their theology is such as they just won't mix with any other church & yet the feature they put in all the local papers welcomed everyone
Oh well...
I always enjoy a good ol' singa-smile-alonga-thon...
Whatever that is!
OH...
those naughty Elim fok who meet at Minehead next weekend might like to ponder the 1 worthwhile point hat broke my reverie on Sat...
They don't like you insisting that Baptism in the Holy Spirit is necessarily a '2nd blessing'
Having been in both Elim & AoG since 1980, I cordially invited them to check the statements of faith at http://www.ag.org & http://www.elim.org.uk
& assured them that, 26 years ago, I had many cautious questions & misgivings, having had similar groups try their best to put me off Pentecostals...
but, being a vibrant, living faith, these past 26 years have seen great growth in maturity as well as spectacular global growth in numbers
To prove the point, it was I, not their leader - (who so thoughtfully spent @ 90 minutes trying to persuade me into the same kind of exclusivity as the Exclusive Brethren) - who said that, even THIS 'naughty Penty' knows that there are verses in almost every epistle that equate Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the new birth/spiritual regeneration
I told him that I've heard Elim, AoG, Apostolic & CoGiC Pentecostal pastors urge folk to make Christ their Lord, as well as their Saviour
Regular readers will know that my own appeals always link the 2
I also told him that I've heard all kinds of Pentecostal/Charismatic preachers urge folk to recognise that we leak the blessing & need to 'go on continually being filled' - as per the present continuous tense of the original Greek in Ephesians 5:18
& urging folk not to want only tongues, but to, 'earnestly seek the higher gifts, as they edify/build up the whole Body of Christ in faith'
I recommended the 10/11 Christian freeview TV stations as all being very Pentecostal - specifically except EWTN, the RC false teaching one
I said, 'If U R so sure that you are right, & that you know the Bible thoroughly, come on http://www.ChristianForums.net & enjoy the fishing!
