Just curious if we have any poker fans around? I'd love to talk style and technique. :)

I enjoy playing Texas Holdem..

Certainly there is an element of skill in bluff when sitting around the table, which is the nature of the game, playing online is totally different and relies more on chance than skill. Playing for matchsticks and fun is going to see more wreckless and loose and random play opposed to what people play for serious money.

A good player will have a number of styles and the ability to switch between them according to how play is going etc.

I know myself personaly, I tend to bluff a bit more than I should. I'm pretty good at reading when I've lost, but I still jump in anyway. That's what makes me a rookie.

/hijack

yes, i'm hijacking this thread. i play poker. i love to play poker. i wish i could play more seriously than having the friends over. as already been stated, with free play, you stand to lose nothing, so your game is completely different than when you're playing in Vegas (yes, i have. recommend it if you don't have gambling problems). anything else? :nod

Do you play at all online? I play over at Full-Tilt but I'm not too good.

I used to play online all the time when you could make wagers.

Just a few dollars here and there, but it was fun.

If I had the money I would move to Vegas and become a poker bum.

I tend to like hold'em.

Love Texas Hold 'em.

Can't stand on-line play...it seems everyone goes all-in every other hand. Now when there are real stakes it's a lot more fun.

At family get-to-gethers my mother-in-law will buy gift cards for like $50. Then the winner gets the gift card and no one is out their own money. It's a fun way to play and can't be called gambling.

Yeah online play with fake money is kinda lame. Almost every round ends up with someone going all in.

Online for money was a little different and simulated real life play a bit better. The tourneys were the best, especially when you got down to the last 4 players. Tended to get a bit conservative because no one wanted to be the dude who didn't win anything.

We had a poker drinking game on my units Christmas party :oops does this count, lol

if i play online, i play at Full Tilt. i'm not great, but i've won my share of tourneys. nothing beats live poker, though.

better, b/c you're playing for a prize, but having chips that represent real money is best.

i do not recommend playing poker while drinking, especially if you're playing with/for money.

so did someone want to discuss strategy?

:biglol I think it does, tell me how did you play?

If anyone is interested I'm playing right now at FullTilt table 462.

My daddy is a really good poker player. Many times he was asked to leave Vegas Casinos. He is so good that they swore he was cheating. But somehow he holds the numbers/cards in his head when he plays, and apparently the casino figured it out and would make him leave.

But I love watching the million dollar poker games on TV all the time.

BTW we just got one of those LCD HD Vizio TV, and got HD cable yesturday, plus a blueray player with blueray movies...........man what an awesome pic. You know those actors complextions aren't as good as we think they are on regular TV under all that makeup. Man you can see the pores, the hairs in eyelashes, the weaving in material of the clothes they wore.......amazing!!!! Yesturday we watched a movie and I can't even tell you what it was about cause I was just amazed at the details in the moivies, just amazing! :thumb
