Are Jack Van Impe's predictions Biblical?

Could various cultural and secular sources be right about earth's final day?

 • Ancient Romans believed 2012 would be an historic year.
 • Ancient Mayan prophecy of the world's end revolved around 2012.
 • The Ancient Chinese I Ching predicted doomsday in 2012.
 • In the 16th Century, English prophetess Mother Shipton said history would end in 2012!
Do these prophecies from all over the world correspond with the truth of God's Word? In their exciting video teaching, Drs. Jack and Rexella Van Impe demonstrate the very real possibility that 2012 could be a year of culmination - could December 21st 2012 be history's final day?

Of course, you don't have to pay a thing to see how Jack is pushing pagan prophecies as a way to make a buck, but then nobody's perfect. :grumpy

I wish we (all of God's people) would only teach what we know of God. What we know is in His Word, once the speculation starts the truth gets lost.

OH another good work! Yes. If you research even on your own you'll find there's like 17 -24 (sorry my numbers are mixed right now) civilizations or cultures that all say "something" is going to happen in 2012. I don't believe in coincidences (that's luck to me and I believe in God instead) so... at least to those cultures, something is going to occur eh? Wow that's amazing to me...and exciting...because it could be God's up to something big :D (I don't know why you'd need to advertise a price though, as that has nothing to do with theology here, does it??)

By the way, for those who don't know, Drs Jack and Rexella take NO monies from the ministry at all, profit goes to provide the needs of the ministry, they are not paid. :) I don't know of too many other ministers that can say that, or that do that (though there must be a few yes?)

Jason, in post 13 is a quote from his tv show..

An article in the January-February 1993 issue of Perhaps Today magazine included a detailed chronology to demonstrate that the Lord will probably return in September of 1999:

"Let's figure that out again--1948.5 plus 51.4 equals 1999.9--around September of the year 1999. Now, we are not date-setters! Of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not he angels of heaven, but my father only (Matthew 24:36). But wait! Don't say, `No one can know the APPROXIMATE time when Christ will return,' for Jesus also said in verse 33 that we will know when it is near, even at the doors."

In the Jan-Feb 1997 issue of Perhaps Today Van Impe claimed that the year 2001 “will see the start of the Great Tribulation. Political chaos, natural disasters, nuclear war and the worldwide rise of Islam will usher in mankind's final hour.â€

In 1998, Van Impe had this to say about the 16th century French mystic Nostradamus;

â€Now, Nostradamus said that the king of terror would appear November of 1999. I believe Nostradamus knew his bible and knew what the six-day theory was, and so he could put it all together.†Jack Van Impe Presents October 5, 1998

Hey Reba, did I miss your reply with the legitimate sources of these???

I wish we (all of God's people) would only teach what we know of God. What we know is in His Word, once the speculation starts the truth gets lost.

That is an excellent statement. I think I would even be cautious about countering someone who knows so much of the Bible, and has studied it for so many years and shared the truths from it. For you see, that is what Dr Van Impe is doing... and what I try to do (though I'm not so good at it at times. )

But nothing he says contradicts the Bible, and if there's fear it's on behalf of those who need to accept Christ or become better Christians. "as if snatching them from fire"

He preaches Christ, through and through. If you see him, his videos, his tv program and watch all the way to the end...you will see he gives salvation verses, the message, a prayer for repentance and acceptance of Christ, he calms and encourages the believer. He never ever suggests you have to buy something of his for any element of being a believer.

We are to judge the false prophets...those who preach "another" than Christ. Those who desire to lead people into giving so they can have God's love or miracles, or even salvation. False prophets don't lead people to Christ, and even those in NT times who were not of the "commissioned", when they preached Christ (though they themselves might not have been followers) they were to be left alone...since God's Word does not return to him void.

No, everything Dr Jack Van Impe preaches is to lead the lost to Christ, and to encourage the believers. AMEN TO THAT! :study

We are not to listen to false prophets OR false teachers. The very fact that Jack Van Impe's "predictions" have been wrong so many times since the 70's proves he is a false teacher.

Here's a quote from one of Jack's shows about Y2k. He claims he received this message from the Holy Spirit.

...Jack: Rexella, I was going to make this video next year, around February, March. But the Holy Spirit awakened me a few months ago and warned me as to what was coming and that I should warn you. And I'll tell you, this is perhaps the most important video you'll ever receive concerning your own survival and what to do to prepare for what's coming.

...Jack: Computer experts from around the world tell us that the nations of earth will not be ready and there could be calamity and mass devastation. Confusion? Listen to Jesus. He said, "just before I return, nations will be in distress with confusion." Look up that word "perplexity" in Luke 21:25, in Webster's Dictionary and you'll find it means confusion. The next verse says "men's hearts will fail them for fear for looking after those things which shall come to pass on the earth." Jesus went on to say in Luke 21:9, "when you hear of wars and commotions," that which causes confusion, "be not terrified, for these things must first come." First come? Why? Verse 28, "When these things begin to come to pass," and it's going to begin January 1, 2000, "then look up. Lift up your heads, for your redemption draws nigh," and that's the redemption of the body, Romans 8:23, at the time of the rapture, when He says, "Come up hither," Revelation 4:1, and we're caught up in the twinkling of an eye to meet the Lord Jesus, 1 Corinthians 15:22. And so it's all so near. But he went on to say, "when these things are coming to pass," and it looks like it's going to happen very soon, "then you know My kingdom is near. I'm ready to return as the King of kings and the Lord of lords," Revelation 19:16, for that 1000 year reign on the earth, Revelation 20:4.

Where does he say the Holy Spirit told him anything that isn't in the Bible, other than the word "perplexity" ... no, even that word IS in the Bible. Are you saying that the Holy Spirit doesn't speak to his believers, well then you'll have to attack me as a heretic as well then, for the Holy Spirit surely does speak to me (and sometimes waking me in the middle of the night too!)

I think any information being presented as conflicting with Scripture and what Dr Van Impe says, needs to be spelled out extensively, as well as what is being considered as in error so that it can be seen if/that it has been taken out of context, especially since this is relevant to the destruction of the testimony of a man of God. To post up something that a person personally disagrees with isn't proper at all (in the sense it's being used to denote Dr Van Impe as a heretic), for there are many great men of God that believe the way this man does as well, and yes, many others who have another view...yet both can be found in Scripture and not be proven as false.

If you really have questions, why not write to him yourself for explanations? There's a place on his website for questions, and also contact information.

You might copy this thread with it's accusations so that he can address them fully for you. Be well.

I was thinking about Van Impe's local supporters and how carefully they describe what he says as nothing more than offering his opinion and/or possible denouements.

You quote shows this snake for what he really is, fine work.

I've never heared Van Impe say anything on his show that is not intended to come across as coming directly from Heaven. I have no doubt that every topic if not every word he chooses is on a list showing the effects of its usage with regard to donations received. His constant and purposeful slurring of scriptural quotes combined with heavy doses of dogma make Elmer Gantry look like chior boy.

There are no 'great men of God' going about daily making false and failed predictions as they pretend to be speaking on behalf of the Holy Spirit, not one. Even an unbeliever can understand this.

You claim to be his pal ,have him come on.

You don't see the problem in trying to reconcile the Bible with pagan prophecies? :eeeekkk

Hi stormcrow, true to your screen name I know you are often into circuitous posting here, but I will give you another chance.

Have you personally heard this program? Probably not because he merely shows that it isn't just the Bible who is showing something big is about to occur, but, especially for the non believer, knowing that there are those many other cultures that depict this may cause them to actually listen to the truth of the Bible. He wins souls.

I haven't won any way near the number of people to Christ that he has... have you? God is blessing his ministry. Satan is attacking. I'm on God's side :) I hope you are too. This man is a man of God.

You don't seem to be understanding...or you just don't want too.
He claimed the Holy Spirit told him about the Y2K "disaster" which ended up NOT being any kind of disaster at all.

His OWN words incriminated him. Showing he made false predictions.

Well, there was going to be a disaster, and many professional techs will tell you ...and they'd share how many countless hours they worked to keep it from happening. (Our computers weren't prepared to handle the century change. This should be easy to understand even for a non techie, since many of our old clocks don't reset properly for our time changes, esp now that they changed the change time date. :hysterical

So, if I read you right, you are disappointed that Ninevah repented and changed as well?

I'm also going to respond to your question directly, so there is no misunderstanding.

Where does he say the holy spirit told him anything that isn't in the bible?

That's easy...he claimed the Holy Spirit told him about the Y2K disaster. Never happened. He used scripture to "prove" it would happen. And it never did.

Oh, so..you are now saying the prophetic word of the holy spirit was...WRONG? I mean...he did say the Holy Spirit told him this...and then it didn't happen. You say because people were able to fix the computers...so people's actions changed the result of the prophecy...meaning the prophecy was wrong.

I my experience ardent pre-tribulation folks will remain locked to a beloved teacher at the expense of the Spirit and the Scriptures.
