1 Corinthians 15.8
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time./

Paul made the comment that he was a man born out of due season. I think the Lord showed him what was to come, in a vision or perhaps by translation? It's easy to assume that he would have seen the end times and this got me to thinking. I've always wished that I was born a hundred years ago because we already had modern conveniences for the most part and big brother wasn't so prevalent then.

But maybe not. I think about it more and more and these are exciting times to live in! Can you imagine how exciting it will be to be standing on your feet when the Lord comes back and makes His appearance?! Wow, that's going to be something. I'm starting to appreciate living in these times. I'll take Pauls word for it that these times are better than then, lol.

Anyone feel like they are born out of due time? Like you'd rather be living in an earlier time or something like that? Why?

The Word speaks of the end times more than it does about any other time in the earths history. Hmmm.

I think what Paul was saying is that he saw the glorified Christ before it was his time to see see him.
It was not his due time because he was still alive in the flesh.

Ohh, you mean on the road to Damascus? The passage wasn't really clear on what he was talking about so I just figured the Lord showed him something. He did really, lol.

Still, it got me to thinking and I like these times that we live in. :biggrin2

Paul also had a vision in heaven, not knowing if he was in the flesh or in the Spirit.

I've always thought he was speaking of having not believed during Christ's ministry like the other Apostles.
Or 'abnormally' born in regard to how he was born again.

I would have liked to have been about 10 years older during the rock and roll renaissance, 1968 to 1972.
I know, not a very spiritual answer, but hey, this is the Lounge.

I agree with that. The other Apostles were witness to the risen Christ and spent 40 days and night with Him after His Resurrection. Paul also, to be considered and Apostles was a witness to His Resurrection by the Spirit of Christ, long after the others received the Spirit of His resurrection, as one born out of season.

Note to Jethro: See, we can agree agree on some things, you should really try it some time.

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
(1Co 15:5-9)

The way the Greek reads, Paul is speaking as one born in a miscarriage, or one born dead compared to the others. A untimely birth. Not coming in with the others as they all were with the church, even the 500 since it started, and Paul was killing folks in the church when it was getting started. Born out of grace and mercy, not born with the others.

But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
(1Co 15:10)

So, Paul is saying, I am what I am, God choose me to be this way, I was not with the others, not with the start of the church, but latter, Here I am by the grace of God.

What Jethro and EZrider said.
Mike.

Yes, and No. But really, No.

The Apostles were born into the season for planting, but it is not so for us. That is not our season. Our season is for the appointed time of Harvest.

1 Cor 9:8-10
Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written:that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
