hi, i was wondering what everyones views were on this game. As a game it looks very good but (depending on who you ask) it is pro-muslim/anti-Christian. is it or is it not anti-Christian, what are your thoughts?

For me it doesn't matter if it's anti-Christian, just so long as it's not anti-Christ

Hi kingcrimson, thats a very good point (which never crossed my mind before) do you know whether in its plot it favours one faith over the other as truth?(ignoring the bodycount from both sides) thanks

To be honest, I have no idea. I haven't played it myself, I just know the general gist of the game. Considering how it takes place during the Crusades, I can't imagine there being an attack on the Christian faith greater than something along the lines of "Oh, those darn hypocrites! They preach "love your neighbour" but then go out and exterminate Muslims! Who do they think they are?" I also can't really imagine it promoting either faith - in fact it seems to me that a likely theme of the game is how the violent nature of the times resulted in the corruption of both Christians and Muslims, exposing the flaws of a cultural religion (as in, a religion that is followed out of tradition or imposition or nationalist views rather than personal choice).

The games sketchy through and through. I played a good bit of it and was around while a friend beat it. I know it hints a lot about corruption and hypocrisy in the Christian community that the game provides. At the same time, I remember the finale of the game having to do with a "Piece of Eden" and the teacher at the Assassin's HQ denouncing religion altogether.

I played it but didn't really like it so I never got far enough to make a call on if it's anti-anything.

Nope, Assassin's Creed isn't anti-Christian.
It does heavily involve the Hashashin and Templars, which were a Muslim and Christian group, respectively. But it's not really about either religion.
It's more about politics, secret organizations, and manipulation.

It puts you in the shoes of a Muslim against the Christian Crusaders! Yes, some Crusaders did commit atrocities as not all were Christian. Even criminals were allowed to join the Crusades. But if you know your history, the Crusades were a response to Islam's advancement on Western civilization, an the game paints an ugly picture of the Crusaders, making them the bad guys. In the game you even keep Crusaders from harassing Jews when it was historically the other way around! The Muslim Turks wouldn't allow churches to be repaired, all who didn't follow Muhammad had to pay a heavy tax, and nobody was allowed to preach Christ to other Muslims.

I'm aware of Islamic history. I decided against getting the game.....about ten month ago. :lol

The game is actually quite good and is less about the historic backdrop and more about the primary character which I will not spoil because it is a big surprise early on in the game for those not familiar with it. The second game is hitting this year and I am sure is taking a similar approach a few hundred years later in Italy during the middle ages.

Aero, doesn't it bother you that Assassin's Creed is historically inaccurate? They portray the Crusaders as the bad guys, even in the commercial they referred the Crusaders as "history's most notorious killers!" Are you going to join the world in its lies and the lusts of the flesh? Or will you honor the Lord and flee from this evil franchise? You don't have to be conformed to the image of this world! Jesus commanded you to be a light to it!

Mohammad (pbuh) the Messenger of Allah was a Briber, Child-Abuser, Child-Killer, Deceiver, Liar, Mass Murderer, Obese, Pedophile, Plunderer, Polygamist, Racist, Rapist, Sex Addict, Slave-Trader, Suicidal, Wife-Beater, Terrorist, Torturer, & Warmonger, O.k. that's anti-Christ.

So is this: http://www.reformation.org/oath.html this is definitely the Assassins Creed

I will include the wikipedia link below which gives a great synopsis of the plot of AC.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin%27s_Creed

In short...

- The game is not anti Christian / pro Muslim.
- The main nemesis of the game, which is revealed towards the end, is using the Assassins to drive a wedge between Christians and Muslims for his / her own gain.
- I think we all need to be careful before we label something as "lies" without experiencing it and truly knowing what it is all about.
- It is fiction at the end of the day and is meant to be a game that you enjoy and not to be taken seriously.
- The game is darn good! Can't wait for the sequel later this year!

God bless everyone!

Hold it right there, friend. You just made a dire contradiction to Scripture. You say that the game is neither non-Chrisian nor pro-Muslim. Does that mean it's pro-Christian? Jesus said, "You are either for me or against me," and this is certainly not a Christian game. Aero, there is no middle ground. As your brother in the body of Christ, I urge you to put aside your passion for games and pray the Lord that He will reveal to you whether this game is of the devil, because I assure you that it is.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Not following there. Are you saying that every piece of entertainment, every thing we read and everything we do has to be about Christianity or pro religion? Do you watch TV? Do you watch the news? Do you visit sites on the internet? Do you follow sports of any kind? Do you read fiction?

My point is that not everything that we experience has to directly support religion or Christianity. It's for entertainment. My forms of entertainment, including this game, do not sway me and my belief in Christ.

You're putting words in my mouth! I never said anything had to be a proponent for Christianity. I specifically said that Assassin's Creed is not historically accurate and that it trashes Christianity by depicting the Crusaders as the bad guys and fabricating certain incidents (such as Crusaders bullying Jews, which didn't happen). Didn't you even read my mention of how the commercial referred to the Crusaders as "History's most notorious killers?"

I did read your post. Did you read the synopsis in the link I provided. The game does not "trash" Christianity. The main villian, revealed towards the end, tries to manipulate Christians, Muslims and the Templars so he can profit / benefit from the situation. Very different from what your assumption is about the game.

Again, this is why it is important for everyone to be fully educated about something or to experience it for themselves before condemning it as anti Christian.

My husband played it and said that some parts seemed anti-christian while others seemed anti-muslim. No part was anti-Christ and for him, no part made him sin.
