Ash Wednesday and Lent

ok thats it.
im going to try a 24 hour fast......even if I cant sleep.
just once this Lent.

I heard from a friend of mine...
She is giving up Starbucks for Lent. Now that might seem like not much...but the money she saves is going to charity and she is really going to miss the fru-fru coffee she drinks on a daily basis.
It's a luxury item...and she knows that she is blessed financially. She strokes the large check to the church on a monthly basis. She's going to pack herself a travel cup and make coffee at home. (I do it regularly... normal day in my life) but for her it's a big deal...now knowing her she'll likely spend $30-40 on a cup and no telling how much her coffee maker cost...I'm guessing well over $100. The gourmet coffee she uses... probably over $20/lb. No telling...
But it's going to be good for her to "suffer" with home brewed coffee.
