I'm getting ready to go bald. I hope people don't talk about me in a negative way, although I've already gotten that from one co-worker. She thinks it's "stupid" that I'm doing it.

I am FURIOUS that Britney did this though because people will think I'm trying to be like her, which I am NOT since I'm doing mine for 3 different causes (support for my mom during her chemo, raising money for St. Baldrick's and then donating my hair to Locks of Love). Plus, I planned on doing this as soon as we found out my mom was going to have to go through chemo.

I heard on the news today that Britney may have gone bold because of a relative who has cancer. It isn't quite clear yet as to the real reason.

I think she is doing this for attention, if the real reason was to support another person who has cancer, then she shouldn't have kept it such a mystery.

It's a shame :oops: she's gone the route of extremism with all the things she's been doing lately. :-?

You know, I wondered if she would try to say that she did it for a good cause. If she did, then she should have been PROUD. If she LIES and uses the whole "relative with cancer" thing as an excuse and it's not true, then that girl has even more issues that I thought she did.

I do not understand what you mean by "she shouldn't have kept it such a mystery."

Does she have to tell the world her every move?

Does she have a responsiblity to tell us what she plans to do?

My responsiblity is to follow Christ - not Britney Spears. My responsiblity is also to help others to follow Christ - not Britney Spears.

Maybe she wouldn't do everything for attention, it people would be concerned about thier own lives, than hers.

Being someone that has almost ended up divorced, I can say that a failed marriage can REALLY mess a person up. When my husband I seperated for a few months during our first year of marriage, it affected me big time...and not in a good way. I was lucky that I didn't have kids at the time. That would have made it so much harder. I have a feeling that Britney is hurting something awful.

I'm still mad at her for doing it though because now I'm going to be compared to her! :-?

I guess I shouldn't really care what people thing though. It just got to me today because everywhere I went, I heard people talking about how ugly she was. Well, are people going to be talking about how ugly I am? Or will they be calling my mom ugly? What about all those other kids and adults that have no hair because of cancer or other medical reasons....are they ugly? NO.
 
You are right Nikki - they are not ugly - you will not be ugly nor your mom or anyone else.

Don't be frustrated at Britney - help others to understand.

Hi Nikki!

I regularly pass LIverpool School of Tropical Medicine & the Royal Hospital

There are many folk whose injuries/symptoms etc initially shock folk, but folk they see regularly soon get used to 'em & just chat like ya would to anyone else: I can think of several folk, bald thru both chemo & alapetia, who took a bit of time to adjust but are happy, with good supportive friends
