Fire means two things 1. consuming or 2. cleansing
The baptism of fire has nothing to do with judgement. The reason for a burnt offering in the OT, was to see if their offering was accepted by God.
That which is a sweet smelling savour unto God - II Corinth.2:15 - Eph. 5:2 - Philip 4:18
One part of the law that Jesus Christ himself could not fulfill was the burnt offering. Only God his Father could complete the burnt offering through the revealed Mystery. Christians, the body of Christ is the burnt offering. And being baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire is an example of this burnt offering. And this is why on the day of pentecost, they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire ! We, the church, are the burnt offering !
I think you're right about the judgment but wrong about the unbelievers. Judgment begins with the house of God. We are baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire....the chaff in us is burned away. We are then of the Spirit and not of the flesh. When our heart is circumcised, it is the flesh that is cut off. There will, indeed, be a judgment for everyone, but this is speaking specifically of the believer.Dave... said:I believe that the fire is God's judgment.
Matthew 3:10-12 And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.â€
----Everyone will be baptised by Jesus. Unbelievers will be baptised by fire. That's where the chaff goes, judgment. Here's a few more.----
John 15:5-6 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
Malichi 4: “For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,†Says the LORD of hosts,

So the fire in this scripture is not talking of the baptism fire?
Mysteryman said:WE also need to remember that we are talking about spiritual fire here, and not literal fire.
Matt. 3:10 and verse 12 is talking about the lake of fire (spiritual)
And verse 11 is talking about a burnt offering up to God.
