Batman Begins

First off, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

It is not a remake, retelling, sequel, or prequel, and is not in anyway related to the other "Batman" films, which I dislike.

This film is best termed as a restart to the cinematic Batman.

You may not want to go see this one because of previous Batman "movies"(if I may call them that.), but trust me, this one has it all.

*Some spoilers*

The movie opens kind of oddly, with Bruce Wayne in a foreign prison of his own free will fighting criminals. After 30 minutes, it picks up and things fall into place. The title really makes sense, as Batman's origins, gadgets, story, meaning, and purpose are all explained. The Bruce Wayne/Batman actor(don't know his name) seem like two different people, successfully creating an alter ego.

This movie is not filled with corniness like the others films, i.e. No names like Bat mobile, Bat cave, Bat-a-rang-, Bat phone, etc. Instead, this is what Batman should be: A dark character, not a cartoon character.

Although a dark film(not too much so, though), there is not much objectionable content, so, besides action violence, kids would be fine seeing it.

One of the few movies that I am going to see more than once.

8/10

I completely agree, I liked this one far more than the others...esp the really bad one with swartzeneger sp? as the freeze guy

I'm glad they started the series all over again and in this case I'm glad they got away from the comic book quite a bit because it made for a better movie.

i loved this movie !!!!
i am so glad that they made it kind of dark and the end and with not as flamboyant of characters. i loved the concept of scarecrow and was glad that he wasn't wearing a bright green pink or any other insane color costume !

i loved and cant wait to see more !
:P

I saw it twice, once with best friend and later with my wife. I liked it a lot. It kept the corniness down a lot and went back to the detective side of Batman, which began in "Detective Comics" which later became the name DC chose for itself.

----------------SPOILERS BELOW--------------

I also like how it focused on the more unknown villians. The scarecrow has been rewritten several times in Batman. The early version of him was someone who scared people with a gun. Later he scared people with a fear gas and was given a better personality.

Ra’s al Ghul was another interesting choice. In the comics, he worked with Batman and Batman married his daughter eventually and had a child together. (Batman also married Catwoman in another universe and had a daughter.) But the merging of the universes rewrote this marriage.

-------------- SPOILERS END --------------------------

I liked how this story made Batman interesting whereas the other Batman movies made for interesting villians.

I highly recomment this movie. If you want some good background for this movie (on the spiler side of background), check out Comics 101.

I can't for it to come out on DVD. I've seen most of Christian Bale's movies and the guy does a great job with every role he's had. I like the first 2 Batman's (with Keaton as Batman) and I think Bale brings back that dark element to the character. It was lost with Kilmer and Clooney.

I've heard that a sequel is already in planning.

*Spoilers*

The ending, I thought, could not have been done better. Not only is the new villian hinted at(Joker), but there is a reason for this sudden appearance-The gas used by Scarecrow and Ra's apparently can drive some people to insanity. Just thought that was done very well.

Now I wonder, who will play the Joker? And what will all the new villians be?

******Spoilers******

I agree. I thought the movie did well explaining why things happened they way that did in a very reasonable manner. It majorly sets up for Batman to have some interesting villians. The fear gas combined with Batman going over the line with a costume and agenda is a great way to start off the origins of the villians.

I would like to see a story with Joker being abusive to Harley Quinn with Poison Ivy trying to help Harley leave the Joker. That would be a ood back story that could happen. Two-face makes a good batman story because it is about losing a good guy to the bad side and Batman's guilt over it.

I agree completely with Scott here. I've seen two other movies of Bale's, namely, "Equilibrium" and "Reign of Fire." I think he did a good job in both of them. Also, I enjoyed the first two Batmans because I think Keaton was very good in the role. Batman is a sort of dark character, which is why I, and probably others, are drawn toward him; because he is mysterious. "Batman Begins" regains that aspect of Batman that the latter movies lost.

I'm hesitant to see it because the first two Batman movies (the good ones with Keaton) where directed by Tim Burton (an amazing bloke) and the next two weren't. Burton was the one who put the real sinister edge in the films (particularly with Jack Nickolson as The Joker in the first) and the next to movies where trash without him i think. So since Tim Burton wasn't the genius behind Batman Begins i kind of predicted it to be a steaming pile of manure. I will now have to see for myself I suppose.

Definitely see it. Burton's batman movies were good, but this one is far superior.

Awesome movie, I'm a big Christian Bale fan. The movie was 50 Billion times better then the other Batman movies.
