In one sense there really is no answer. The NT shows that the Son has been eternally generated from the Father. To say that there was a time when God begat the Son prior to the Son's coming to Earth is to commit the heresy of Arianism.
If you what you mean by "beget" is "why would the Father send the Son to Earth in the form of man," there are numerous reasons.
