Have you ever felt a nudge by the Holy Spirit to pray for another? I have, one time. The Holy Spirit actually interrupted my train of thought and spoke to me heart to heart, and said pray for your brother, he needs help right now...I of course immediately wondered what was wrong so asked, what's wrong? And was immediately answered...Pray for him, he needs help. That was the strongest presence of the Spirit that I have ever felt before. The presence subsided at that point and of course I knew who it was that I was to pray for. So I did, I immediately went to prayer and prayed for the brother to receive help. After I was done, I was more curious than ever, so I got on this forum and sent the brother a PM asking what's wrong and told him that I had been told to pray for him. (He is a member of this forum).

After several hours I got a reply from the brother. He did indeed have a bad day and needed help. he got help. A stranger in a suit walked up to him and said, I'm here to help, what do you need? And helped him. He told me that by looking at the timestamp on my PM, that, that was the time that he needed help. So it was thereby confirmed that this was the Lords work. I am glad I could participate in the brother receiving help, and praise God that He did help him, he is a good brother.

I've been thinking about this, and find myself wondering...I have prayed for many people. Everytime except that one time was of my own accord though and not the Spirit. So my question is...If we are to be led of the Spirit, are we not supposed to pray for others unless the Spirit leads us to? We're to be led of the Spirit and not to do things on our own. I wonder...

Life becomes more and more big(all-encompassing) and clear, simple, concise, specific, accurate, awesome and a much bigger testimony of Yeshua and His Blood when
we learn to seek ABBA, and then many things are confirmed as "the Lord's work" ; and
as we learn to honor and praise and call on the NAME OF JESUS (YESHUA). (not-with-standing, (or no matter that), many groups are inaccurately teaching to follow, seek, ask for, and "claim" and pray to the Holy Spirit.

It is only in the Name Yeshua(Jesus) that there is victory. No other Name has been placed above every other name in heaven and on earth and under the earth. All authority and every thing is subject to the Name Jesus, as Yhwh has given all authority in His Name.

God is holy spirit. God set in place the order of things, and the authority of Jesus Name. When the disciples immersed in the Name of Yeshua, they didn't say "in the name of the breath of God" but they said "in the Name of Yeshua". When the disciples throw out a demon, they don't say "in the name of the breath of God begone demon!"
but
they say "in the Name of Jesus, begone". Authority is in His Name. (and only for those abiding in Him, Yhwh being willing.)

Acts 19:12-20
Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

12 For instance, handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were brought to sick people; they would recover from their ailments; and the evil spirits would leave them.

13 Then some of the Jewish exorcists who traveled from place to place tried to make use of the name of the Lord Yeshua in connection with people who had evil spirits. They would say, “I exorcise you by the Yeshua that Sha’ul is proclaiming!” 14 One time, seven sons of a Jewish cohen gadol named Skeva were doing this; 15 and the evil spirit answered them. It said, “Yeshua I know. And Sha’ul I recognize. But you? Who are you?” 16 Then the man with the evil spirit fell upon them, overpowered tahem and gave them such a beating that they ran from the house, naked and bleeding.

17 When all this became known to the residents of Ephesus, fear fell on all of them, Jews and Greeks alike; and the name of the Lord Yeshua came to be held in high regard. 18 Many of those who had earlier made professions of faith now came and admitted publicly their evil deeds;

I agree with what you're saying brother. I just am not sure what this has to do with my question, lol. :)

believe me brothers and sisters, I know this sounds like a dumb question. There is certainly a time and place for praying for others. Absolutely. But just think for a moment...We ARE/ARE NOT to be led of the Spirit in all things?...Chew on that for a moment...

Ok, so if you can see that we are to be led of the Spirit...then, wouldn't the Spirit nudge you to pray for whomever? (Like he did me). That begs the question...Are we too casual in praying for others? Scripture says, the Lord knows what we have need of before we ask.

Do we take some things too lightly in the bible? I know that it says, ask and ye shall receive, but are we too casual about it? In the same vein, in the OT, I can see that a fathers blessing upon his son was a big thing. Jacob stole his brothers blessing from his father by disguising himself. Could that possibly mean that perhaps we go around blessing people willy-nilly, perhaps inappropriately?

If blessings were important enough to us to be recorded in scripture, what does this tell us? Are we overlooking something here?

...pray without ceasing... 1 Thessalonians 5:17 NIV

I would think that new Christians should pray according to Biblical guidelines. After they become spiritually mature, they will get better at discerning the Spirit's voice, and following His lead.

I agree. We can never go wrong going according to scriptural guidelines. Are there any scriptures which tell us specifically to pray for our fellow men?

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 NIV

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:44 NIV

Of course, in the case of praying for non Christians, pray for their salvation, that they learn the truth, and learn to obey God. Be careful not to inadvertently pray for anything that might help them to carry out evil plans. Use wisdom.

So then, if some come to you who do not bring this teaching, do not welcome them in your homes; do not even say, “Peace be with you.” For anyone who wishes them peace becomes their partner in the evil things they do. 2 John 1:10-11 GNT

Wow, ask and ye shall receive, eh brother? Thanks. That clears that up. :)

........

If blessings were important enough to us to be recorded in scripture, what does this tell us? Are we overlooking something here?

there are VOLUMES published of which you speak - not just blessing but also curses, that practically very few are ever taught (from Scripture).
I don't know if that's the same as 'overlooking', but as it is written "My people perish for lack of knowledge" this is very very pertinent.

A lot of people , it seems, when they try to look into the Scripture and to God concerning blessings and curses, they are stymied or hindered greatly in their search / pursuit, and many do not get past the first step of searching ("seek , and ye shall find").("keep seeking!").

more clearly though, keep seeking the Creator in all things , and He will direct our steps. about all things - not just curses and blessings.

seek the gifts, and things get way unbalanced. seek the Giver of the gifts and the Great Healer Provider Savior Sovereign God, and He manages somehow to get the right balance as needed. :) (duh, of course HE does! HE's THE ONE! ).

anyways, as you asked, yes, a very big amount is missed (overlooked).

There have been times that my spirit would become uneasy as if something big was about to happen, whether good or bad I am not sure, but the Holy Spirit will unction me to pray and again if for a person or just a situation I do not know at the time, but I then pray in the Spirit and it's usually after I pray that the Holy Spirit reveals through someone else that I prayed for them.

BTW great scriptures Michael74 :clap
