Gal 4:
28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
This is a great verse and a testimony to the fact that that believeing the gospel of Jesus christ is because of Gods ability and promise..
The believer in christ is made manifest to be a child of promise.. A child of promise is one who has been declared to be born by God..
God declared or promised abraham a son in their old age..
gen 18:
10And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
14Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son
gen 21:
2For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
God brought about His word, the birth of isaac was according to Gods promise..
Isaach was to be heir..he was an heir of promise..This was a eternal spiritual promise too..
heb 11:
8By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
12Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
13These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
15And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
Now, God promised Isaach as an heir to this great promise..
Question, was isaach a believer in christ or the gospel ? Sure He was..next question, did God foresee that isaach was going to believe the gospel, then decided to make him a heir ? No, none sense..God simply said thou shalt have a son to be heir..
Was Isaach born a depraved man ? sure, all men are born as david says ps 51:
5Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Does being born in sin and a sinner nullify or makes Iffy, the fact that an spiritual heir may not recieve the blessings of eternal salvation ? Nope..none at all..
In fact, being an heir guarentees a newbirth in time..it did for Isaach and for all heirs of promise..
When God promised abraham he would be father of many nations, he did the same as when he promised him Isaach..Now, Just as God made a believer out of Isaach, so He does for all the children of promise..
abraham believed the gospel..
gal 3:
8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
God was telling abe in essence, he would be the spiritual father of many many Isaacs, throughout the world..all of which, would be born according to Gods promise..
So therefore, believers, believe and manifest themselves as children of promise, because of Gods abilty and word..
