Beyond blackface: serious competition or comedy?

From the Arnold Classic Europe bodybuilding competition. The race-defying skin tone is to bring out the muscle definition. But, it looks laughably freakish, just like all that extra muscle.

I saw this linked from another website. This guy looks like some sort of comic book villain, but one where someone photoshopped a white guy's head onto a black guys body.

The other contestants pictured are clearly caucasian, in spite of black skin (which wouldn't look natural even on a negro). The news article that brought this to my attention implied that the man with the white face mistakenly neglected to "bronze" his face. But, I think he wanted to be able to put on his clothes and not look like someone wearing blackface.
