You'll find some background material at bible.org (see: https://bible.org/gsearch?search=Bible background history), but you'll need to log in with a password. I've found considerable valuable information on this site, which I understand has some association with Dallas Theological Seminary.

I think you might be better off going to a library to learn Bible history. Check out the 220's and 230's.
