Bible Question..

Maybe I have used the wrong terminology when describing it as a gospel, perhaps I should have called it a chapter.I think it was Kings and Chronicles that were close to being identical. It struck me as odd that the writings which are central to the religion would bother to have the same "chapter" twice. :seehearspeak

Hey Watne,

Kings and Chronicles are two different books of the Bible. Just so you know, the Bible (Biblia in Greek) is a collection of books. Within Kings and Chronicles, there are 1 Kings, 2 Kings and 1 Chronicles and 2 Chronicles. So which chapters of which books are you referring to ?

Kings and Chronicles tell more or less the same events, but from slightly different perspectives. It is the same with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) - in places they give different (but not contradicting) accounts of the same events (e.g. the Crucifixion of Christ).

In the case of Kings and Chronicles, the book(s) of Chronicles is focused on the kings of Judah, whereas the book(s) of Kings narrates from a broader perspective, covering events surrounding the kings of Israel AND Judah (during King Rehoboam's reign, the nation of Israel was split into the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah).
