Strengthening families through biblical principles.
Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

I have had to slow down on these with my work load offline, but they definitely encourage me. I love these discussions. For here, how have you tasted and seen the Lord as good?
He's big into Psalm 34 right now I take it.
Not a problem. I have days where I can do a little posting here and there, but I can go for stretches where I am pretty heavy into research.
About this verse, I was reading just the other day in Hebrews about those who have "tasted of the heavenly gift," meaning they have received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and how if they fall away after this there is no more forgiveness of sins, seeing as how they crucify the Son of God anew and put Him to an open shame by rejecting Him after they had become intimate with Him through the outpouring (it essentially amounts to blasphemy against the Holy Spirit).
Interesting too that Peter made reference to tasting of the Lord, and compared it to the Israelites tasting of the water that came from the rock when Moses struck it with his rod in the wilderness.
1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious... (1 Peter 2:1-4)
He mixes three analogies at the same time in this passage because it is content-heavy, but I think tasting of the "living waters" of the Holy Spirit is the ultimate fulfillment of this analogy. As Jesus said in another place, "out of their belly shall flow rivers of living water":
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, "If any man thirst, let him come unto Me and drink. 38 He that believes on Me, as the scripture has said, "Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." 39 (But He spake this of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) (John 7:37-39)
King David was very familiar with the outpouring of the Spirit, and thus would have known all about what it was like to "taste of the Lord." As it says in 1st Samuel:
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. (1 Samuel 16:13)
David later cried out to God in Psalm 51, pleading with Him, "Do not cast away from me Your Presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me." He understood that through sin he might lose the empowerment and blessing of the Holy Spirit upon his life, much like Samson did.
Whenever you have time for these things, it's cool by me. Now and again is cool.

Christ_empowered: In case you're still interested, here's another one, brother.
Outpouring of the spirit like tongues or something else?
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit has been something on my mind what that means. We have been discussing this on another forum. I think it means like the pharisees who denied the power of God, called it of the devil, and were far past the point where they were willing to repent or believe.
I am very humbled and grateful for Christ's forgiveness especially for things I have thought.
31Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the one to come.
I am glad to just be able to trust God. It is not something to worry about. Just to understand
I don't worry about you. If it is was actually you speaking (which is another variable in the equation), I doubt you even knew the One you were talking about very well yet anyway. If you were to do so now? Maybe, but not when you were still in the spiritual throws of a very rough childhood.
I do understand more about Holy Spirit. For sure growing up particularly in the Baptist church, Holy Spirit was more impersonal then to the Father and Son. Until this last year I never addressed Him as "Holy Spirit", but as "the Holy Spirit." Holy Spirit is part of the Godhead you really do want to "taste and see"as good. We are having a series on the power of Holy Spirit at church and talking about the outpouring.
I've had a few interesting talks with my friend at church about a few dreams too... Hard to know what to do with them. But I'm trying to let God lead me. I am not sure about quite a bit of it now. I am just not doing them online now. Confusion is definitely not of God. I'm just going to be an encouragement and stay in prayer for others online. These are my gifts. And the more understanding I gain offline about dreams I get under the covering in my church, the more confidence I can get that I am not going into something supernatural that is not of God. Like talking about so many dreams first part of the year, I really don't know. It is hard without more tangible proof what is what online. But there are so many spirit filled Christians where I am, just being opened up and awakened to understanding Holy Spirit. It is just the beginning it feels like. No matter what this last year was about with dreams, there is God in them. I'm just trying to understand more and throw out what is not. Terrorists thought going into the watchtowers were God. I don't want anything I think is God hurt anyone if I don't understand it very well.
The dreams I seem to have most are dreams about my future and dreams of a warning nature . The dreams don't need much thinking to understand . But some dreams have more symbolic things going on .Same with dreams and visions. They're part of the prophetic gifts, and hence are mentioned together with prophecy in Joel 2:28. But without an interpreter, their ability to be of much prophetic good is limited.
You do keep a dream diary , don't you ? I had a sci-fi like dream before CV got started and dismissed the dream but I did write it down . When I went back to look at another dream I saw the sci-fi one and thought , Oh my not so sci-fi after all now .I've had a few interesting talks with my friend at church about a few dreams too... I'm putting dreams aside for now and bringing them up if they bother me/can't get my mind off them.
Yes. The ones I've found that were truly from God are often very memorable, and strange symbolism is often a part of that.
The right approach, IMO. If they are strongly prophetic, the Spirit of God will let you know.
Btw, not sure if you ever read my last response to that thread you closed or not, but just in case you didn't, the "million dollars" in your dream cannot be a person as I previously thought (someone I presumed was valuable in His sight). That would be mixed symbolism. In your own dreams, money was always used to represent the prophetic words God has given you through dreams, and in mine the revelations God has given me through study. Both are essentially "the true riches" if you will, and hence the spiritual analogy.
That would change the interpretation, and make the three dreams fit together and have essentially the same message; they mean that an offer is/will be made to move in the prophetic once again at some point. But now is not the time yet, as I mentioned elsewhere. If you do get anything that is very pronounced, however, please let me know. For now, I am beginning another 40 day, and I want to make it a habit of succeeding at at least two long fasts every year. I need to be praying for the gifts with more consistent intensity, and for Him to confirm the word with greater signs and wonders. I still feel like the power of God will be needed to distinguish between truth and falsehood in the end times, and things are getting worse out there with regard to false doctrine now. Simply arguing with people doctrinally forever may only make matters worse instead of better, and the Lord could possibly use you in that regard again down the road.
Wanted to make sure you knew.
