Deu 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.
Deu 17:7 The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you.

Deu 19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

Heb 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: (KJV)

If anyone were to wonder they would need only to search my screen name and the evidence will show that I not only favor the Death Penalty but that I despise the fifteen to twenty year time periods that it often takes to fulfill the sentences. But because I do always seek the wisdom of Father God there are conditions required before this sentence can ever be pronounced in a murder case.

I just watched a 48 Hours on ID program and was reminded of my scriptural concern for this nations failure in Judicial Wisdom. With our scientific advances, today, I would find it hard to convict and sentence a person to death without either DNA evidence or no less than two eye witnesses. On the TV show a jury of twelve people did just that.

The DNA evidence was not conclusive and did, instead of convicting, demonstrate the probability of an unknown third party presence at the scene and on the victim, knife and gloves. In my world, that is known as reasonable doubt! And when the person on trial is the husband and is of great reputation with all relatives, kids included, I must ask for better evidense.

Many, claiming the name of Jesus, today, but not following with submission to His will, make the false claim that Jesus did away with the Law He created and etched, with His finger, into stone for us to follow and, thereby, live successful lives. These claims can only stand if we never learn to read and to comprehend the scriptures and jerk scripture out of it's context and abuse it.

Today, in this message, I find myself, some will claim, in the other court. In truth, my position on the matter has not nor will it ever change, this side of Heaven without divine intervention but if we are to do as God has instructed us, we had better know what He has said! Sadly, few there are that know because few there be that care!

I support the death penalty when and if the law can somehow bring back people who were falsely convicted. It happens.

Also, the general public tends to have a rather poor grasp of what "DNA evidence" constitutes. Too much CSI misconception.

The average problem with understanding DNA is not nearly as serious as the average church going persons understanding of Grace and obedience. You take what you have just said here. From the beginning God has commanded man to kill a man when he or she kills and yet you have just stated, in the oblique, that you don't care what God said... you're not going to obey. Something to ponder from your position is the promise of Jesus to tell the pretenders that He never knew them and in another place He said if you love me, you will obey me.

Ah, but God did not command us to kill people who were falsely accused, either through incompetence or intentional deceit. Until we've brought back the people who were killed by the state in that manner, why do we feel we have the right to continue this way?

To look at it another way; every time we as a society put an innocent person to death, we're collectively guilty of murder. By this logic, we as a society should be put to death. Are you advocating that? Or is that an inconvenient fact in your argument?

(2nd Corinthians 3:11,13) states that the law has been abolished as we have now a better covenant...(.Hebrews 9:15}

(Romans 4:15) states that "for where no law is, there is no transgression"

(Romans 6:15) ties it up nicely by saying, "we are not under the law".... BUT, we are not to sin.

Keeping the "law" was never given as a basis to be right with God, but rather it was given as a situation whereby the entire world would become guilty before God.(.Romans 3:19), because by the law we see ourselves in relation to God's holiness ....as its by the law we have the >KNOWLEDGE< of our sins.
We are not able to keep the law, and thus we understand our need for a remedy, which of course is the Free Gift of righteousness......(Romans 3:23 & 5:15-18)

Now having said all that..
Is the law good?
Is the law holy?
Yes, and we are to try to keep the 10 commandments as we try to live a holy life or as it says in ( 1st Peter 1:16), "be ye holy as i am holy" as we try to "present our bodies a living sacrifice",( Romans 12:1).

So, the law is designed to show us our sins and our sinfullness so that we turn by FAITH to the eternal sin bearer for eternal pardon.
Following this, we are to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh , (Galatians 5:16), using the power of Christ who is in us to control our fleshly desires. (Philippians 4:13)

Do we keep the law to be saved or to stay saved, ?
Absolutely not !!!!!.
Do we keep the 10 commandments the best we can as a part of our discipleship?
You bet.
