When we live righteous lives, our lives are blissful.

When we live sinful lives, our lives are nightmarish.

Pie in the sky again, elijah!

Even the righteous experience nightmarish trials. We are supposed to have that deep joy and peace that is beyond our understanding, however. Bliss is an emotional state. The joy that God gives isn't.

Philippians 4:7 NLT
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Conversely, many wicked people live lives that are pretty good. Believe it or not, we can live good lives without Jesus. Does that sound terrible? It isn't. As long as we appease Satan, he is going to make sure you live the good life and don't seek God.

Those who devote their lives to following Jesus Christ are the ones who get Satan's attention. His main goal with Christians is to get them to falter and compromise so that their witness will be ruined or made ineffective--and that means he is constantly stirring the pot!

I believe that when we follow Jesus we are setting ourselves up for attack from Satan. Jesus himself expressed how his followers will be persecuted and face all kinds of trials and hardship for his sake but He also tells to us perservere for those that perservere will get their reward in heaven. The few years spent on this earth are but a drop in the bucket compared to eternity. What would you rather have? Eighty years of bliss on earth followed by an eternity of damnation or 80 years of strife followed by an eternity of bliss?
