boxeee on Aple Tv

I am thinking about putting the boxeee operating system on my apple tv because it wil play more formats. The only thing I dont know much about boxee and really dislike stealling intelectual copyright stuff. The patch is open source and free thats no problem but I just want to know if what you see as in the media isnt from places that havnt paid the owners of that media for the reights. Anyone know about it?

Ps i dont think Itunes is good value for money here in Australia presently I have rented 2 movies at around $6 ea
