Re: Boyfriend's haircut today.

Sounds as though it's a very legalistic sort of church. If the emphasis is on the gospel, and the legalism is born out of a sincere desire to follow God, I guess that's OK. However, too often the legalism takes over and often the gospel is reduced to a bunch of tightly adhered to rules of 'do's' and 'don'ts'. There is no salvation in that.

I agree!

Please vote, everyone! Just to see if people agree with me.

Yes open a new topic on it about women having their heads covered. Percisely what I was thinking this whole time.....it's legalistic. I believe he's sincere, just overbearing, judgemental, and I think he as alot of time on his hands to be that way.

Re: Boyfriend's haircut today.

Yes - in fact they have strict rules relating to the position of women in the church.....

I wouldn't go quite as far as that, but generally there are a lot of teachings David accepts which I can't. I've started a new thread below on women in the church.

Haircut: although a shock at first, I'm getting a little more used to it now. I agree it's added greatly to his masculinity. Any more votes anyone?

Hi Jules, i've picked option 3 but i must say that his ears are much better suited to his new hairstyle.

I actualy have shoulder-length curly hair and have never been told that it is unsuitable. Some may have seen a pic i posted of myself a few months back but that was when i used to keep it in a ponytail.

I agree now! He's had a few jokes for sure, but I'm getting far more used to it. The church clapped and cheered him at a meeting last night (when they recognized him)! But I would have been happier if they hadn't influenced him quite so much.
