Boys are Dumb: Made Official by the Great Male Survey of 2011
Well, not all boys are dumb, but the male of the species definitely showed their true colors in the 2011 Great MaleSurvey conducted by an online men’s magazine.
AskMen.com published survey results today that provided some interesting and certainly controversial statistics. The survey was geared to peer into the thoughts and behavior of today’s male. With over 70,000 respondents (including a women’s version of the survey), the answers tell a tall tale.
Chief among the offenses are the number of men who said they would dump their partner if she became fat. Forty-eight percent of American men—that’s right, almost half—said they would kick a girl to the curb for some extra pounds. We assume they aren’t talking about monthly PMS weight gain, but some more serious poundage, but still, that’s pretty cold.
Also on the list of dumb things to say: 48 percent would punch their colleague in the face (and 29 percent said they would even punch their boss!). ‘Cause that is a really mature ways of handling problems. Typically, women prefer mud wrestling to settle their differences, don’t we girls?
And the reason that beer is such a popular choice among the male of the species? They believe it is ultimate man drink, and 51 percent believe that the type of drink they order is reflective of their masculinity. (Clue: Women really do like James Bond and his martini, guys.)
When it comes to sex, men aren’t only dumb, they’re dogs. They are less than truthful about the number of partners they have been with. Whether building themselves up to be a player, or withholding the actual number of conquests in their little black book, a whopping 50 percent skirt the truth.
A reality check is also in order when it comes to the kitchen. While 53 percent of men were single or without a current partner (no surprise there!), of the remaining 47 percent, more than half believed that they could outperform their female partner in a cooking competition. Unless the majority of respondents were professional chefs or their partners couldn’t boil water, is it really likely that more than 50 percent of men in a relationship are better cooks than their female counterparts.
And in a twist that almost seems laughable to me, 79 percent believe that men get screwed by the courts in a divorce. I can tell you that after my mom’s first divorce, she got two kids, welfare, sporadic child support, no alimony, and had to live in a 35-foot trailer. During the second divorce, after 14 years of marriage to an abusive cheating guy, she got half the house and two kids. No alimony. He walked away to a wife who was half his age, and took all of his retirement savings and pensions. In fact, I don’t know of one single woman in my life, young or old, who divorced and didn’t get the bad end of the stick.
On the upside? Twenty-seven percent of the men who responded to the poll believe in angels.
DISCLAIMER: This was written by a woman; a happily married, overweight, stressed out chick who, hopefully, has raised two sons to act better than those who are represented here.
