Build Up your Riches in Heaven

Edward

2024 Supporter
Jesus said I go to prepare a place for thee. My new house may be under construction as we speak. (what a nice thought!).

It is written that some will be called the least in the kingdom of God. It is written that we should build up our riches in heaven.

On one hand, being one who would be called the least in the kingdom of God is good because at least they would be there and have eternal life. On the other hand, wouldn't it be better to have greater status than the least?

My question is, is it wrong to be greedy so to speak, and want more than being least? Is it a good thing or a bad thing to dwell on? I wouldn't want to seem materialistic but I find that it is a joyful thing to think on my home in Heaven and who wouldn't want a bigger nicer house rather than a nice cozy place.

I'm sorry if this seems stupid.

hi edward, i'm not sure about all that you are thinking but i'll try to get you going on this.

first of all, i think you may misunderstand the least in the kingdom of God.

in Matthew 11:11, Jesus says that no one was greater than John the baptist, but the least of those in the kingdom of heaven are greater than he.

i guess there is no greater position in life than to be the person who proclaims and ushers in the Messiah.

but John never experienced the fulfillment of the Messsiah. we live and experience the full power of the risen Christ. he was the greatest but because of the power of Christ in our lives, we who are the least are greater than he.

think of this: a dwarf on top of a mountain sees more than a giant in a valley.

as for seeking greater things in life, i can only look at myself.

i believe that rather than seek how great the things i can do for God, instead i think of all that i can do through Christ working in my life.
