This weekend my school had some of us RA's go to an RA training weekend. It wasn't as much training as it was just a day of 45min conferences, but it was a pretty cool day. One Idea sounded really cool to me.

The idea was that once a month post a sheet of paper on your Bulletin board that asks a question like what is the meaning of life. Then just let students leave messages as to what they feel the meaning of life is, and let them have discussions from there.

What do you all think?
 
My RA's did something similar like that, They actually "experimented" on us.

They posted the word "COLOR" in big Black text, and then had us write what we thought. On the floor above, they wrote the word "color" in regular text, and had us write what we thought, and then on the 3rd floor, they wrote "Color" in rainbow.. and ask us what the word meant.

wethen all discussed it, because the first one "COLOR" was seen as an insult towards people of color, it was seen as "Shouting" and had a sort of, negative aspect to it. the "color" got remarks liek "red" and "crayon" and then the rainbow one, got "fag" "Gay" and "Curtains"

we all discussed how the way something is shown, can actually make the thing itself totally diffrent. and it showed how prejudice some people can be.

I really enjoyed that activity, and enjoyed reading other peoples resposnes.

HA! We barely have 400 studnets living on our campus. We do meet the diversity of studies to be a university, but we're way too small.
 
Wow! That's a small school! We have between 1000 & 2000 students living on campus and over 6000 enrolled in classes! I go to school with an enrollment population that is nearly the same as the population of my hometown! I believe we're considered a big school. Most definitely university status.
 
the comment to rover about "are you in university" was not meant to mean American University. I meant european.

In europe, they dont have "college" they have University. where as here, We have Colleges, and then Universities.. and they are diffrent.

btw, mine has maybe 1500 live on campus, and 100 commute.
 
haha, ya. I wasnt sure for sure, I talk with many europeans/australians and they are often confused when people say "college" and mean "university" so i was just checking to make sure that our language diffrences wern't confusing him.

I figured he might still be in highscool (college in most european contries) and that might be why he is asking if he can post here...

Actually i dont go to any college or universities, im still in high school :P but i think in america they consider yr 11 and 12 as a college student? im not really sure...
 
nope, 11 and 12 are still highschool (although you can take soem colege courses in some highschools.)
