Burning incense in my car

Today I was burning a new kind of incense --- some sort of "spring" scent that at face value smells sort of "fruity" and maybe even a tad sickening sweet if one gets too much of it. Every time I parked my car at my destination as I was doing my errands, I'd put it out. But when I came back into the car, I noticed something interesting. This incense has an interesting lingering odor ("after-scent") that smells something like the scent they put in sun block, with a "summery" and "beachy" type of smell reminding me of being around people at the ocean. Fascinating. I thought to myself this is more of a summer fragrance than spring IMO. Definitely made my summer errand day pleasing.

BTW, the reclining skeleton holder I have I call Mr. B. He leans back on his arms as if resting in a field and smoking. His name is 5 letters long, but I know the ladies don't like his name. It's not polite. :D

Sorry, that's his name. And that's why I only called him by his first letter so as not to be rude. I call him that for anyone I talk with.

I have an array of characters in my life to make it more comical. I should have been a comic writer or something. I won't go into talking about "Madge" the neighbor housewife who has to have coffee with us 10:10 every morning and offers solutions to every household problem from making the kitchen sparkling clean and lemony fresh to even fixing the furnace.

I need to get myself an incense holder like Mr. B for the car because I always stick it in the vent and the ashes fall on the floor or seat. My husband has melted the car in two spots because he always puts it in weird places. I have a frog holder somewhere....

That's a very nice holder, but it says for cones. Are you planning on burning cones or sticks? The link I gave to you are for the long, skinny sticks.

I don't mind burning cones. I feel like they last longer. But I think I could find something to stick in the bottom of that holder to keep the skinny sticks in. Maybe a small jar of clay?

Do you know the name of the incense you were burning? I really want to find some that reminds me of the Atlantic shore, I have CB-I hate perfume "At the Beach - 1966" and that nailed the smell, but I really would like to find some similar incense.

Yeah, it's common incense from Gonesh.

It's called "No. 8 Perfumes of a Spring Mist"

It's apparently a mixture of stuff unlike a specific fragrance such as Sandalwood, Dragon's Blood or whatever.

You can buy a box of 100 sticks (that will go forever) at Amazon.com I believe it was for only $8. What I do is I add stuff like this to my wish list until I get enough items for free shipping (usually a $25 order or more).

I'm not really as much of an incense connoisseur as I made myself out to be. I have a small circle of certain fragrances I like, and Gonesh used to be "Rani Charcoal Incense cones" back in the 1970's when I was a teenager. They only had a limited number of fragrances, I believe 8 of them, but nowadays their selection is a lot greater and I'm slowly expanding out. However, it's most convenient for me to get them at a local drug store (and my son's girlfriend knows of a place where she lives on Long Island that hand dips the sticks) so between those two places is where I usually get them. They are dirt cheap in a drugstore at about $2 for 20-25 sticks, but the selection is limited.

Well, pertaining to the police, that's the problem with this nation becoming a police state where one is guilty until proven innocent. Of course if I burn incense I "must have something to hide". Right? :halo That's another subject in and of itself in which anyone who knows anything about incense knows it is not strong enough to cover anything up, and IMO is no different than one of those mirror hanging air freshners --- heck, I get my incense in a drugstore so I'm doing nothing illegal. I would point out to single out incense people is a tad discriminatory as opposed to mirror hanging people. Then maybe point out that there's real criminals to be caught out there.

When I looked this up, those who claim that seem to be mainline medical and mainline news agencies such as CNN. I don't even bother to listen to them. I would not advocate burning so much incense that one chokes up, and certainly not all day. I'm talking a quick drive to my work and back (or errands) about 4 times a week. Outside odors, such as someone mowing their lawn, even with the windows closed and only the vents open can override the incense smell, so it can't be that strong, nor, as the previous poster was concerned about, can it be used to "cover anything up" If you have a kid that pukes in the back seat, and light sandalwood incense, you'll still have foul smelling puke only with just a touch of sandalwood fragrance added.
