Though many people consider the events as shocking and horrendous , was the burning of the Library at Alexandria in Egypt during the 5th century AD a good thing ? After all, it helped give Western Civilization a fresh start in Christianity...

What do you think ?

What? No, not at all, it destroyed a century's worth of technological improvement. Christianity didn't need that to happen to take hold. The idea that it may have helped would not exactly be a feather in its cap anyway.

Ummm...no. I'd have to say that burning books and other censorship is pretty much a bad thing.

Another vote for "No, the burning of the library was an awful event that set us back a century."
