Business or Pleasure: Guys and Girls

I just spent the last week at a Christain event. Our Job was to break up into different service groups and serve the LORD in the city of Philadelphia. It was a mission. A time to get to work and serve God. At our base camp, A college just outside the city, many guys and girls began flirting.

Though they spoke like Christians at Bible Study and Prayer time, they clearly fell in love with the world as soon as they were granted their hours of free time.

At first, meaning the first half of the first day it was limited to the college campus. But it spread to our ministry sites.

Soon they were hooking up and making out. At my site, a young...hold on I was about to say man, but I should say, piece of scum with a church, was harassing a lovely young woman....WHILE HE WAS SEEING A GIRL IN MY OWN CHURCH.... THE GIRL HARDLY SPOKE TO OUR FELLOWSHIP THE ENTIRE WEEK!

Pardon me...

What do you think about this?

What is the limit to our teenage shame of the Cross?

I'm sorry, I feel very strongly about this.

It makes me tremble with shame when Jesus is put beneath our desire to act like animals.

I've seen it too. I'm afraid that's another example of Christian teens allowing their love for the world and flesh to get in the way of pleasing God.
I'm not saying it's easy, it is hard, but we should know enough not to go that far. We claim to be Christians but then we go out and do the exact opposite of what Jesus tells us to do. I can't imagine He's happy about it.

That's really sad... :crying:. We've been called to live for something greater than ourselves, and greater than the world. We've been called to take up our cross and follow our Saviour, Jesus Christ. We can't live our life our own way or the world's way AND follow Jesus too. It's one or the other.

I guess there comes a time when Jesus brings us to that point where we finally and truly make the decision to give up worldly ways. When I became a Christian, I hadn't completely given up the world. God had to humble me down to the point where I was willing to hand it all over and say, "God, I'm living Your way alone now. Cut my worldly attachments. I want to take up my cross and follow You now. Please give me the strength and wisdom to live for You."

Sometimes it really isn't easy. I understand that. But once a person fights that and makes the decision to give up the world and truly take up their cross, God really blesses them for that. =) Until we truly hand over the world and choose to be in the world but not OF it, we're not able to have First best. We're being ripped off.

For those who haven't made the decision to surrender, sacrifice and live a life pleasing to God, we need to pray for them and be an example.
