Bea Mitchell and her daughter Janet Thaldorf have taken on quite a challenge. They are knitting caps for the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team here in Idaho. The caps can be worn under the helmet, keeping the head warm in winter, and when soaked in water, cool during hotter temperatures. Bea, a former "Rosie the Riveter" knows how to step up to a challenge, and was undeterred when she found out that 2,700 caps will be needed by September. Bea and her daughter can knit about a cap a day, so they are putting out the call to all knitters for help in this.
If there are any knitters here at 123, I'll be more than happy to pick up the pattern and get it to you, as well as get your completed caps to Bea or Janet.
