I believe that the spirit of man can be dead without the Holy Spirit.

I don't thin the scriptures say precisely that we have an incorruptible spirit. That we will be raised incorruptible, yes, but not now. In 2 thessalonians 1:9 it say that we shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and so forth...

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;/

So I am leaning towards yes, our spirit can be guilty, corrupted and impure. Some will say that our spirit will return to God, because the soul and spirit are easily confused. To me too, I'm no exception!
