Well... I bought a copier, printer and scanner yesterday at Walmart.I bought a Canon.I was going for an HP but the guy told me he thought the HP printers can be more difficult and that people seem to have more problems with them.Mine was cheap $35.00.He said it was cheaper because it was not wireless and that is what people want now.I have to hook it up today :eek2 I hope I succeed. My other printer died on me a while ago.

Kathi,
the very best thing you can do is to take that piece of trash back and purchase the HP. There are reasons the HP is the most popular printer in the world. And at $35 there is not much probability that you printer has more than 2 cartridges... very expensive to print with. You need a printer with no less than 4 cartidges, 1 for each color. With just a color and and a black cartridge when one color is empty, you must replace all of the colors, usually for better than $35. My Hp runs $18 a cartridge and has better than 20 times the amount of that color in it. Spending more for the independent cartridge printer is hundreds of dollars cheaper over time.

And with the separate cartridge system a continuous ink supply (CISS) you print thousands of documents for pennies instead of for hundreds of dollars. the clerk that steered you is not computer savy.

The printer you bought is for people that buy a new printer every time they need ink. They end up looking at the prices of the ink and find that it is just cheaper to buy a new printer. The other side-effect of this is now you have multiple types of printers' software installed on your computer, unless you are diligent in taking the old one off when you buy a new printer.

Take th1b.taylor's advice and spend a little extra money for a better printer. Go with an all-in-one. You don't have to get a wireless printer if you don't want one, but if you have a wireless router the possibilities are endless with a good wireless all-in-one.

By the way, going to walmart for computer advice is like going to walmart for gardening advice. You get what you pay for. (I know that analogy is a bit suspect, but it actually works)

Sorry. It is already set up.... :shrugIt has a 2 year warranty. The reviews and ratings got a mixed bag. Some people really liked it some people did not. That is the same for the HP.

since you purchased it from Wal-Mart it is still returnable and you honestly have purchased a money sucking nightmare.

I try my best to allow other people to benefit from my mistakes and my first three color printers were the same type you just purchased, all within a year. I needed a color printer for Church projects and my family and I were spending over a hundred dollars a month, Today you can get them refilled if you have two or more sets of cartridges or about $10 each as opposed to about $35 each but as I said before the individual carts. have at least 20 times the ink and with them the CISS lowers the cost of a full cartridge to 0.10 cents or less.

But your right, if your going to take the word of a store clerk, whose job is to earn money for his employer over that of a Computer Technician asking for nothing but your personal welfare, time will tell. with any luck you will never print very much and will ¿prove me wrong?

My HP I had was a nightmare so I decided to go with something different.

I don't know what model you bought but it it was not a deskjet or an officejet then you already know what you're in for because the two cartridge printers are considered to be trash by techs because that is what they are, that and money pits with no bottom. As I said and id not know that you should already know better than to purchase cheep, I just sought to keep you from tossing money into the pit. If that is what you prefer, I'll need to lift you up to God.
