*Please dont bump this to the business/career topic. I want this to amongst teens who are in school, and may be still as undecided as I am.

So teens, what do you want to do as a career when you "grow up?" Name a few possibilities?

I'd like to become a salesman, a lawyer, or a politican. Possibly a preacher, and polic also. I might join the military to get disclipined, and get paid for a while too.

web designer or something like that, but lately I've also considered overseas missionary work.

Working on being a writer, hopefully writing about philosophy

Well this is a tough one for me..

God was good enough to gift me with the abilities to draw, sing, write poetry, use a camera..and he also gave me a passion for politics, religion, morality, and philosophy...and the abilities to help people, and connect with them...to care about them...

I am really considering majoring in Religion and Philosophy though because I think that will benefit me the most. I am thinking about becoming a missionary... but I am not deciding, God is. I am letting him decide for me...I'll know when the time is right :) He gave me the gifts and He knows how best I should use them..

Good thinking, Vicky. God gives us gifts....and we should use theim in alignment with HIs will, whether that means spreading God's Word overseas in Zimbabwe or even just being a Christian wittness in your engineering office, becasue you can use your engineering gifts (for example) to bring glory to God. Becasue God did not make us all to be excellent preachers, he may have given us other gifrs, even if that means doing the sound desk at church. So if your gift is in missionary work, and if that is the will of God...I encourage you to go for it! And trust God, which to me seems as though you're already doing. :)

I have went through so many choices of what I have wanted to do as a career.

When I was in primary I wanted to be a vet.
Then changed my mind on becoming a doctor then go on to work as a pathologist & if I did choose that then I would love to work with the police either as a police doctor or police/forensic pathologist but I have went off that idea because I had thought about that & I have realised that if I were to become a doctor I would be the kind of person that would become attached to whoever I was looking for & I couldn't do that. But God also helped me change my mind, I listened because it was as if God was saying to me would you be able to handle it?
For now I have set my mind on doing something business related as I do business management as a subject in school & I love it. So I'm thinking of doing events management, & when I get through college and uni I am hoping to maybe go self employed. Also, I would love to do start helping out with new ideas & events with my church & having a career in events would be able to help me! I was also thinking of doing international business because I would like to be able to work abroad!

I do Business at school as well, and I think its quite enjoyable, relevant and useful. I'm sure one day both of us will be able to use it.

I am very unsure when it comes to my future career, what I 'plan' to do changes all the time. Being a Pastor is the only thing I have wanted to do my whole life, but there also other things I want to do. I am currently considering being either a Pastor or a University Professor (possibly of Christian Philosophy). Whatever I do, I know that I want to write books; I wish to be a scholar of some sort. Using the knowledge I gain to serve God, with research in Apologetics, Philosophy, Theology, etc. :D

Being 14, don't be worried at all that you have no idea what you want to do. I'm 17 and I've got friends who still have no idea. And remember what it says in James 4 about setting up your own plans ahead of what God wants you to do. I think we are all guilty of this (not saying that it is wrong to plan). I now have a very clear idea of what I want to do, but I didn't at your age, so I wouldn't worry, but just keep things in mind.
If you want to be a Professor of any kind you will need to have a PhD and be lecturing at a university and writing books etc. That's how you hold the title of Professor. To lecture at a university you have to have at the very least a Masters degree or possibly even a doctrite (PhD).
We are all serving in ministry for the Lord. :) I't great to see that you are considering taking that to the next leel. :)

Haha ya I know; my best friend's dad is a Professor and he's told me all about it.
Did you know that the average Professor of Finance gets paid more than Professors in other fields, due to the fact that they have such a vast knowledge of Finances, the University has to compensate them so they don't just go off and make more money in their own business? Lol, I thought that was interesting.

Yeah, that is interesting, but doens't suprise me. The average Business/Economics degree actually gives you a better sallary on average over your lifetime than other degrees, a recent study concluded. Trust the finance degree to give you more money! :lol

Haha, naturally! :D

Old topic, but oh well.
I'm thinking of exiting school in/at the end of Year 10 & getting my Certificate III in Carpentry at TAFE, getting my apprentiship done and getting my builders license. Might go for some more degrees after that, not sure. Somewhere down the line I'd like to work for companies/charities like UCB Australia.
