If this happens... :gah

Since less people use their cell phones to talk and rely instead on data transfer, it looks likely that cellular carriers will band together and end unlimited data plans. Let all the martyrs wave their 1990's style 12-button relics like a flag. I for one use my Droid for browsing all the time. I'm using it now!

This smacks of collusion to me. It's hard to believe, as cut-throat as this industry is, that competition wouldn't dictate that this doesn't happen. I've got to believe this agreement wouldn't last for that reason. Someone will break ranks and chase down those data-loving customers. Customers on current plans would be grandfathered in and allowed to re-up their unlimited data plan, but they couldn't upgrade to newer technology without waving their rights to it. That would be tough, but I would rather keep what I have and be unlimited.

Don't do this!

Well, what can I say? Too much information moving about is threatening to some in power perhaps? Maybe some big M company is throwing out giga billions to thwart these Apple devices because they have not successfully made it in the market but only viral desktops? Or maybe someone somewhere wants to make more money. Who knows? I think we need a conspiracy theorist to sort out what's going on for us. :lol

Time to get over it. It's been like that in Aus for as long as I can remember.

I heard about this on a video game blog. From what I understood, its not because of competition. Its because there is only so many frequencies currently available that are usable for wireless data transfer. So many frequencies are used by governments and the majority are owned by television broadcasting companies. Unlimited data didn't seem like a problem at first but due to the huge boom in people now carrying little internet machines around at all times, the frequencies are drying up.

So it makes sense that companies would end unlimited data until a new way to capitalize on the frequencies we have can be made.
