i'm thinking about looking into catholicism

I've been reading some things

what is the beef with them?

Lots but one of the biggest is the RCCs claim to be the only true church. Add in a host of extra biblical doctrines, Assumption of Mary, purgatory, etc and you have problems.

i think i will move to the the proper forum the end time or the other but i ask that this be civil as the catholics here will post.

and so did the jewish faith and that doenst mean they are right.

I suggest you ask yourself which best adheres to the scriptures and when you've settled that your decision is made.

Fair warning: Catholics will say that strict reliance on the scriptures is unneccessary, even contrary to Gods' will.

why is this in end times?

per forum rules, these catholic debate get just as ugly as the gay right debates so it was decided before i came here where they could be discussed.

yes they are some other threads that have rcc doctrines discussed but that is because of the orthodox here posting, since this is a stand alone rcc debate i moved it here.

orthodox and the rcc dont beleive in solo fide or solo scriptura that is why i let those be.

where in the Bible do it talk about this?

romans 10:9-10
in the kjv(solo fide)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

solo scriptura is the idea that i believe paul spoke of when he wrote this to timothy.
2 timothy 3:16
16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

we look to the bible alone for what the lord wants and also correct ourselves by it and also look from verse to verse ie if its in the nt and ot says something else we must examine the bible and look at context

the catholic does this but they also look at the councils and so on.

we do this sometimes as we look at certain concepts that the bible doesnt really adress or never said dont do ,or condemns openly

slavery is one of those

side note on slavery it was done away with by the christians because of the golden rule and also other things that the bible speaks about treating fellow man.

They did not come first.

You discover the truth by the word of God.

why are you so bold and blatant?

you make our religion unattractive...

i'm guilty of that too

What is bold about that? I don't mince words, which is a strength to some.

If you think I make religion attractive, good. I don't have a religion. I have Jesus. He is attractive, and He approves of me.

Some people need blatant. I was answering your question simply. You can discover what is right and wrong my the measuring stick of the word of God.

can i ask you a favor?

tell me which bible you use and where it came from and the earlier versions of the protestant bible?
when you are done and look hard at the books in our protestant bible tell me the the man who put it to together and along with the duay-reims that also is a 'descendant' from another person with councils that looked at the books and such like.

book these men that lead theses very different bibles called their faith a what?

Why?

you will learn who put it together and also what the truth of the group that did it. and then you can see why protestants for your self are right or wrong, thus strengthening your arguments

both bibles are acceptable to the rcc btw , as if didnt notice francis seldom uses the extra books in his bible.

the bible fyi wasnt put together till centuries after johns death.

three centuries in fact, this isnt a so simple bash the rcc and walk away and think they always had it wrong or still do.

i had to look at my faith a lot closer and what i was taught and why.

since we are both on this side of the atlantic we recieved our faith by the h.s but through protestant groups who through many generations from the original calvinists or others that were most anti-catholic. we often forget what they did get right and forget that we also owe them and why we had the schizm with them.

RCC discussion is allowed here ONLY in the context of how they may fit into one's End Times beliefs. This doesn't fit the description. Sorry.

Now look at how quick this became an argument. :bigfrown
