[mhess13"]Want to get to know the real Charles Darwin? This site is a must read!
:o http://www.thedarwinpapers.com/ :o

:D mhess, this site is very good. I'm going to go back to it often.
Reading the section about the ancient views of evolution is very
insightful. I want to read all the material on this site.
I can't this evening because I'm sleepy,but I have studied alot
on it already. This is great work, and it's got a great deal of
information for all of those who are interested to know about Darwin
on a deeper level. Thanks mhess.

Quath,if what you say is the truth,we could all see it,but as it is,no one can observe evolution.
Certainly a person's integrity or the lack thereof proves alot about
them as well as their biases.
Do you believe that DNA can change through mutation? Do you think something that is fit is more likely to live than something less fit? If so you have pretty much accepted evolution. Just add in a lot of time and you will be one of us.

Come and join the dark side. ;)

8-) I believe that rare mutations do not change DNA very much at all,
and when or if it does,it only harms life. It cannot help life at all.
Research the fruit fly experiments.
Genealogy can help you understand much more in this area.
The female gene can be traced all the way back to Eve some claim
already.

Mad, quite mad.

8-) MAD? What do you have to be mad for?
This is good news, and it should cheer you greatly!

Blue,

The evidence regarding that "Eve" points to her living about 150,000 years ago in Africa.

You might not be happy with that date, given it proceeds your Eve by 144,000 years, an generally agrees with the idea that our ancestors migrated from Africa about 120,000 years ago.

By the way, it is not the female "gene" (there really isn't any such thing). It has to do with mitochrondrial DNA, which exists in every cell of both sexes.

However, you are correct in that it is passed down from the maternal side.

:B-fly: Thats not the information I am talking about, but thanks for bringing it up however. It may exist in both sexes, but in one sex it
is alot stronger. Women don't have male private parts and vise-versa.
A proven difference that can and had been viewed by both sexes.
Women have menstrual cycles, men naturally do not.
Big difference in the bodies of males and females in case you didn't
know that.
Actually it's a chomosone called an X. XX for female. XY for male.
Women carry only their own sex cell X. Men carry both sex cells.

And Jesus is a follower of the false goddess Isis. After all, the website says it, and everything on the internet is true.

:B-fly: Oh',so I cannot even help you all find out where your religion
came from? Did you not notice false goddess in the above statement?
You are a christian evolutionist who seems to side more with the atheists
who say they believe in evolution, than the christians.

Now there's nothing wrong with lesbian orgies (but not midgets). Or pot for that matter. :Fade-color

So if some mutations were "good," would that change your mind?

If so I can show you one example. From http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,40677,00.html:

Mutation of a gene whimsically named "I'm not dead yet" can double the life span of fruit flies, a laboratory discovery that researchers said may lead to drugs to help people live longer and, perhaps, even lose weight.

Researchers at the University of Connecticut Health Center have found that the life span of fruit flies was extended from an average of 37 days to 70 days when a gene was modified on a single chromosome. Some flies in the study lived 110 days.

...

Helfand said a key finding of the study, which was appearing Friday in the journal Science, is that not only did the fruit flies live longer, but they also seemed to maintain a high quality of life.

But to be fair, this is like the sickle cell gene. If you have 1 mutated gene and 1 regular gene, you have an advantage. However, if you have 2 mutated genes, you have a disadvantage. In the sickle cell case, having 1 gene gives you greater immunity to malaria which is why so many Africans have the genetic disease. Study sickle cell anemia and you can see evolution in action in humans.
