I was commissioned in the US Army in 1989 and due to military service mainly at Fort Hood, have been a Texas resident since 1990.

Looks like we need to start a Texas Rangers thread...

I served with the 11th GS Avn in '66, the 15th TC in '67, and B Co 229th AsH in '68. My third tour was with the 120th Hdq. at Ton Son Neut.

I have not signed in there but B Co. 229th has a page where Tom Matern and on occasion I build Desk Top Backgrounds for people. I'll need to look for the First Team page over there. Would you understand, LOL, if I shout GARY OWEN!

Yep, you're Cavalry to the bone. I was at the Neuro in the Houston VA and one man saw my Cav pin on my hat and asked what unit and my pride has always been the Killer Spades and I said I was a Killer Spade in '68 and '69 and he jumped up and screamed Gary Owen. when the VA cops let him msit back down he told me he was 2nd/7th and the the Spades pulled his bacon out a bad fire twice late in '68.

I never got my Stetson but I wear an Indiana Jones Fedora and a Stingy Brim Fedora and all of them have my Ribbon pins on the left side and a First Team pin on the front. My Avatar is me with my favorite Brown Stingy Brim.

I wore a Silver Belly Stetson when I was on stage but people were not, at all, friendly to the Black ones with the Cavalry markings. In Frisco they would spit on us.
